Col Regina Kasteen of the famed Valhallan 597th is a rather fabulous redhead.

In fact IIRC its not an uncommon hair colour on her world
I AM A MARINE PLAYER
"Unimaginably ancient xenos artefact somewhere on the planet, hive fleet poised above our heads, hidden 'stealer broods making an early start....and now a bloody Chaos cult crawling out of the woodwork just in case we were bored. Welcome to my world, Ciaphas."
Inquisitor Amberley Vail, Ordo Xenos
"I will admit that some Primachs like Russ or Horus could have a chance against an unarmed 12 year old novice but, a full Battle Sister??!! One to one? In close combat? Perhaps three Primarchs fighting together... but just one Primarch?" da001
My understanding was that Leman Russ was always a blond, but had such a propensity for bloodshed that his hair was often tinged with the BLOOD OF HIS ENEMIES.

Contrary to what you may have read, the ginger gene is NOT "breeding itself out" in humanity.
It may go recessive, but it will stick around, just like MPB and early "silver fox" (both expressions on the same gene in an either/or setup - can't have both).
I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.
That is not dead which can eternal lie ...
... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Is this like some weird British bias? I never heard the term ginger or all this anti-redhead stuff till I started meeting a lot of Brits (and wannabe-brits like Aussies and Kiwis)

After 38000 years I'd expect gingers to be extinct or at least very rare as natural selection becomes a much larger element of mankind again. Red hair doesn't really help you survive on a pitch-black world or in a jungle.

(For the record I'm a platinum blonde.)
I thought it came from South Park.
There's also this:

Speaking on behalf of British people, we have to abuse and discriminate against them because they're different. Its so obvious.
On a serious note, British humour is extremely dry. We will sarcastically pick up any given feature, trait or characteristic to mock straight face with humour. Other cultures might see it as bullying to call your friend as "ginger (insert T, C or S, swear word here), but its only borderline bullying. Its just dry humour. Unfortunately, as I say, other cultures don't get that and portray such a thing as bullying, which gives British bullies ammunition. Its like this;
British people slag their mates and call them "soulless ginger vampire (c***s)"
American shows pick up and portray it negatively
British bullies pick on the negative portrayal, use it to bully as shown on TV
Ginger slags become un-PC and just straight up bullying
South Park does a take on it
Everyone realises its just a joke and can be used again
The PC police (PCPCs?) come in a say its bad.
