The truth will be out there for another revival season FOX confirmed today. That’s right, Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are coming back for a second (11th) season after their six episode “event” in 2016.

“Iconic characters, rich storytelling, bold creators – these are the hallmarks of great TV shows. And they are some of the reasons why The X-Files has had such a profound impact on millions of fans worldwide,” said Fox president David Madden. “Chris’ creativity, along with the brilliant work of David and Gillian, continue to propel this pop culture phenomenon, and we can’t wait to see what fresh mysteries Mulder and Scully uncover in this next chapter of The X-Files.”
Fans are rightly torn, while yes *some* of the limited series was fine, on the whole it was largely disappointing. It became increasingly apparent that Chris Carter (series creator) had lost the flavor of his main characters, negating so much of the personalities and development we’d seen over the 9 seasons and two movies. His written episodes of “season 10” were the weakest and least enjoyable.

The current time-frame is that “Season 11” will air on Fox later this year, or perhaps in January of 2018. (Season 10 was a January start, so maybe they’ll keep with that timing.) Production is set to start sometime this summer.

We know that Gillian Anderson (Scully) and David Duchovny (Mulder) are both confirmed to return, making 2017 a busy year for Anderson as she is playing Media in the STARZ American Gods series which airs on April 30th.

Yet another show to add to my list over things I will not watch again, the old series really grew stale towards the end and I dont think the actors have aged well either, but maybe if I am lucky I will be mistaken. But experience tells me I wont be

Huzzah!

I for one really enjoyed the mini-series they did. Blissfully short on conspiracy theory nonsense.

I liked the episode with the were-creature. It was the same actor that played the Alpha Werewolf in "What We Do in the Shadows".

Very funny!

Yes, by far the best one IMO.

Given that they're not trying to pretend the new episodes take place in the sameness time period as the originals, I'm not sure what this has to do with anything?

That and you're demonstrably wrong, Gillian Anderson has aged spectacularly well, to the point I actually find her more attractive now than I ever did back in the day.

Good news though, I hope they stick to the short series format, felt that worked particularly well last time and helps keep the quality up way better than trying to find new ideas to fill a 12 or even (heaven forbid) 20+ episode season.

Still not clear why how well the actors have aged is pertinent to anything?

Freedom of speech or no, if you can't rationally justify the things you choose to say when questioned....

What should I say? That I find said actors as pleasing to look at or watch act as two bars of soap in the things they have acted in for some time?

Oh wow, it really was as superficial as it appeared.

Ok then...

They are actors and for some that actually matters. Particulary in a show like X files

Funnily enough, it was actually written as an episode of Night Stalker, which was one of Carters inspirations to make the X Files.

Attractiveness isn't a prerquisite for acting.

What actually matters is if they can still act the parts, not if they are pleasing to look at.

Pretty stoked about the 2 good episodes, 2 meh episodes, and 6 mediocre episodes Chris Carter is sure to deliver.

Did you see Anderson in the BBC's 2016 production of War And Peace?

Wasn't to keen on the last batch, bar the Were episode , but will give a go, glad it's still Mulder and Scully as had a feeling Einstein and Miller where sort of being primed fall back replacements should Dave and Gillian call it a day

Possibly my fav show of all time but the last season was very hit and miss.
Hope they tighten up the writing and just simply ditch the hell out of the mythology arcs.
X files was by far at its strongest with stand alone motw episodes.

Agreed, the mythos built itself up so, like Lost, the payoff could never have matched it. MOTW episodes were generally better, and I wish they'd done a few more like Tooms where they got their own little arc over a couple of episodes.

Indeed, GA also looked very nice it the BBC crime drama she has starred recently, in the name of which escapes me.

Conversly she look somewhat facially frozen and plastic in the last files series which I put down to US TV prefering to Botox the bejesus out of any female over 35.

As for new Xfiles, I'll go for some of that. It's not what it was but it's a dammed sight more interesting that more reality/soap/crime programmes.
