So this is what many people predict. What do you think?

https://warhammer40000.com/setting/explore-the-factions/

I really hope they don't mess with the fluff too much and make Orks and Tyranids allies or some thing like that.

No. Chaos, Imperium, Eldar, Tau, Orks, Tyranids, Necrons, at absolute worst.

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

I dislike this idea 3 faction stuff a lot. Since it really has the potential to mess with my armies.
but who knows, it could be an improvement. And the site looks cool : D

Also notice how Khorne daemon kin is no longer a thing and how the vampire space elves have not consumed the other eldar races.

faction imperial agents... not sure what to think about that.

You people are overthinking it.

Chaos, Imperium and Xenos, it's a simple way to class the three different types of factions in the game, it doesn't mean all Xenos are suddenly going to be Battle Brothers (or whatever the 8th ed equivelant will be).

Nope but it does most likely mean that my orks can no longer have their support of renegade humans who like to dress up as orks.
And that my inquisitors are probally are going to have a hard time to being radical.

That could be the case. Since they made the whole thing more self explaing to new players now you could just send your friend one link and the can read all about the 40k universe.

Well, I wouldn't be surprised if they packed armies as Imperium and Chaos factions, but I can't figure out how they would justify letting tyranids, necrons and orks (+ others) work together as if they were old good mates... I'd also say these "factions" have to be somewhat overthought

I read the site as a compact and interesting starting point for new players. It barely scratches the surface in terms of the lore and background for the armies. I don't think it'll be three grand alliances of imperium, chaos, xenos a la AoS.

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

Considering that they still subdivide these "sides" into the factions we're already familiar with, I'd say Imateria is probably right here. I don't think it's going to end up being like Age of Sigmar in this case.

It's quite likely that "Battle Brothers" will be gone entirely, it was only ever used to rape the fluff and the fluff-bunnies anyway.

If they go with the alliance/keyword system from AoS. It looks like they will have

Imperium
- Space Marines
- Blood Angels
- Dark Angels
- Space Wolves
- Grey Knights
- Deathwatch
- Astra Militarum
- Adepta Sororitas
- Adeptus Custodes
- Sisters of Silence
- Adeptus Mechanicus
- Imperial Agents
- Imperial Knights

Chaos
- Chaos Daemons
- Chaos Space Marines
- Death Guard
- Thousand Sons

Xenos
- Craftworlds
- Harlequins
- Dark Eldar
- Ynnari
- Tyranids
- Genestealer Cults
- Orks
- Necrons
- Tau Empire

Granted that allows for too strange a combination on the Xenos side of things. And the fact that Chaos is alittle thin with chapter information. I assume Emperor's Children and World Eaters will get their own subfaction sections when their army lists are filled out more.

For Instance:
A Plaguebearer in AoS is currently: CHAOS, DAEMON, NURGLE, PLAGUEBEARER

Which seems to fit what they are showing so far.

This is also my take on it. Nice and easy to navigate on a mobile device.

It also serves to highlight Chaos as a major player in the background.

This sort of makes sense to me. From a humanity point of morality it basically goes:

Us Guys (Imperium)
Bad Guys (Chaos)
Neutral gits (Xenos)

It works cuz if you lumped them into "Good/Evil" types, you'd get something weird like Orks, Necrons and Tyranids being lumped in the same faction as Chaos, despite three of the four mutually hating each other's guts (and one with blue and orange morality compared to the three).

Plus if they add in keywords it'll be easier to have anti-X weaponry (Daemons, Xenos) again.

Yeah seems like Keywords, like Craft world eldar will have Aeldari, craft world, and Xenos. I may be reading to much into this, but they called the Necrons androids, which is an interesting and so far as I can tell new description, so humanoid and android might be keywords as well. I'm hoping biological and mechanical are also keywords, so you can have things like poison wound better against things with the biological keyword, and haywire wound against things with the mechanical keyword.

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Do we really need FOUR kinds of elves?

At least they didn't split the Tau out into Farsight Enclaves.

Yet.

Also I feel as if this is meant to be more or less like the Grand Alliances in AoS. Most likely they will releases three books based on the three groups with dataslates for every unit and info on the factions within each category. For example read with description for on of these books:
"This 88-page book is the indispensable guide to the armies and factions of Death at the dawn of the Age of Sigmar. A must-own for all collectors and players of this Grand Alliance, and indeed anyone collecting and playing Warhammer Age of Sigmar, it takes you through the forces of Death with Warscrolls for every miniature, extensive information on the eight factions, a Warscroll Battalion and sample armies to help you mix and match your collection into a fearsome fighting force - or provide inspiration for your next steps into the world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar."

A few word changes and it could fit for a book about any of the 3 groups.

According to gw's behavor till now and even with the slights hope rising because of Rountree, i don't expect them to pack it all in a Xenos book: this way it'd harder to screw us over...

Nor do I see then releasing an Imperium codex for the same reason. And even if they did they most probably would rush it and have us pay further books or something to get something substantial...

Urgh. Nice to see GW is continuing to feth with language to try and make their product more protectable.

To be fair, Aeldari sounds a lot more unique and awesome than "Aelfs". The latter sounds like what a 5 year would would grunt after you punted him in the stomach.

However it's kind of a mystery why they chose this, as "Eldar" is pretty unique actually and quite possibly trademarkable (as far as I've seen, no other major franchises have anything named "eldar")
