I want to convert one of those in to a chaos war mammoth for my army. I really like the rules for it and it'd make a great centrepiece for my Khorne force. I'm very puzzled on how to do this though and I'm wondering if anyone can offer advice on this as I'm pretty new to Fantasy/AOS and don't know what kits I can use.

I've seen people use a Warshrine on the back of a Thundertusk, but it always looks too big. There are people who have made their own howdahs with lollipop sticks and green stuff but I'm not that good with conversions to make it work.

I've messed around with the idea of an orc chariot chassis on the back but it seems way too small so I'd need 2 or 3 of them.

Any ideas? :3

Honestly I wouldn't as it's far too small. I'd go for the lord of the rings mamuk instead which is much bigger. Chaos warshrine on it if you want, or convert the howdah you get in the kit.

I've already decided on it. The mumakil isn't beastly enough to be a chaos war mammoth. It's basically a giant elephant rather than this creature from the northern wastes. It can easily fit 5 or so Marauders on top anyway.

The thundertusk is way to small, the howdah on the mammoth is bigger than it is, your best bet is either a recast or convert a model elephant

Thanks for the advice guys but the best thing about AoS is that there are no official model or base sizes.

Where has GW ever said there's no 'official' models?

That thing is GIGANTIC, like, REALLY BIG.
Spoiler:

Take peoples advice, use the Lord of the Rings giant Elephant. Thundertusk is way too small
And yes, there official models, even for OOP models
Not to mention, the mammoth is 100$, the thundertusk is like 60$. For 40$ you get a model that is perfect size, comes pretty much complete and looks SICK

I don't want to use a mumakil. I don't want a massive miniature. I just want a model that looks the part that I can use as a war mammoth, that isn't expensive or difficult to transport. I don't like resin, I don't like metal.

The thundertusk is perfect for me and I've decided on it. I'm asking how to best convert it in to a mammoth. All I need help with is the howdah.

I've spotted someone elses conversion and I'm wondering what he is using for the platform. Does anyone recognize it?

The Mammoth is suuuch a great model. A shame that they don't sell it amymore.

Could a giant ride a Stonehorn as a giant knight/Bloodcrusher? Or is the beasts back too small and it legs too short?

Looking for a Skaven Doomwheel banner to repair my Nurgle knights.

I ended up just rolling with it and bought a bunch of bits. Thundertusk, half a Warshrine chasis and a Blood Throne. When all the bits arrive I'll post some pics of my progress.

Look forward to seeing it. Not to harp on, but when it comes to gaming with it, you will need to work out how LoS is going to work. The rules are for a substantially bigger model, which would have an affect on game play. It would be like using an ogre model to represent a giant, which is twice the size. You'll have to ensure that using a smaller model (which I'm sure will look great), doesn't give you an unfair advantage.
