If 40k get a great purge like WHFB what stuff do you think will disappear?
Codex, are already going now. Soon the campaign books probably. Dark Vengeance starter set obviously.

I am scared for Space Marine Scouts are going away since they featured in both lost patrol and shadow war.

Also Land Raider and Rhino since they featured in Talons of the Emperor. Seems like away to get rid of them?

Problem is that many vehicles are based on the Rhino. Is the doomsday coming?

What about Cadians? Now that Cadia is destroyed.

What do you think?

My interest in giving GW more money.

Seriously, I ain't buying anymore books. Models I may keep up with if they're cool.

I wouldn't mind them updating the Rhino kit. It doesn't fit together well at all.

Thought for the day: Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment.
30k Ultramarines: 2000 pts
Bolt Action Germans: ~1200 pts
AOS Stormcast: Just starting.
The Empire : ~60-70 models.
1500 pts

Those units seem highly unlikely to me.
However some guard kits and other older not that good selling kits might just never get an update after their initial warscroll update.

I foresee Rough Riders being completely removed at some point.

Marine scouts are unlikely to go anywhere, though they may get a new model kit. Likewise for the Rhino - at the very least I see them possibly consolidating the box rather than selling a separate Razorback, Predator, Hunter and plain jane Rhino kit.

Campaign books are likely to be the bread and butter of 40K's new releases - focus on scenarios and stories. Though I suspect codexes will be gone for at least this edition - but will return the next.

It never ends well

I worry my Renegades won't get an update and I fear IG will be even more simplified than they already are (some units are taken out, platoons lose some weapon options, etc).

Here's to me in my sober mood,
When I ramble, sit, and think.
Here's to me in my drunken mood,
When I gamble, sin, and drink.
And when my days are over,
And from this world I pass,
I hope they bury me upside down,
So the world can kiss my ass!

If it's not a marine or Eldar it's at risk. Entire ranges will probably never see models ever again even if they are not actually removed for sale.

Eh I'm off to AoS for the year or two until 40k gets it gak sorted. If it turns out it's good then yay great I'll eventually come back. If not then eh AoS at least I know the armies I'm getting into are usually all limited release armies.

What evidence do you have for this?

Peregrine - If you like the army buy it, and don't worry about what one random person on the internet thinks.

see Tomb Kings and Brettonians, for starters. (Yes, I'm sure its based on what happened for AoS. For 40K, 8th is a great time to cull poor-selling model lines).

Just about everything that's in short supply.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Brettonians got the ax for a very different reason, they were too generic, so companies could make nearly identical knockoffs and GW could do nothing about it. So rather than allow third parties to make money off of their IP, they decided to just scrub the whole thing (a bit of an overreaction). I'm not sure what happened to the tomb kings, It's probably as you say they just didn't sell well and with a focus on new models and factions it didn't make sense to continue with them. Maybe we will see their spiritual successors in shade spire,

Constantly being negative doesn't make you seem erudite, it just makes you look like a curmudgeon.

Any faction listed on the 8th edition website is safe from being retconned IMO or dropped or "squatted" or what have you.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Several factions may get an initial rules drop (as Brettonians did), but may not continue model support and eventually become 40K apocrypha, with no rules or models (such as the squats/demiurg are right now). For example, Rough Riders are in the AM codex, but the models are no longer sold by GW. I really think that anything that is still metal at this point is likely to be retired in the next six to twelve months or so.
