Might sound weird but can you mount a tank's side sponsons backwards, so their arc of fire is to the rear of the vehicle? If there are rules against it could you please quote them and tell me where they are found. I'm interested. Thanks.

There is no specific rule against it but many TO's would consider it to be "modeling for advantage." For example, there are plenty of rules that use the tip of the gun's barrel as a reference point. There's nothing in the rules that specifically tells you not to make a IG trooper's flamethrower barrel 15 inches long, but this is considered a dick move.

I know the Gorgon has backward facing sponsons and the baneblade can have a second pair of sponsons face backward

It was the baneblade I was wondering about primarily. All sponsons and turrets on all my tanks and transports are pin and magnetic joints along with the sealed door alternative, if I don't want to take sponsons so easy swaps as and when.

just for information I don't see how changing the facing of a weapon is anything like changing barrel length. You I mean a hull mounted weapon that's mounted to the fore or rear of a vehicle would have be mounted on the corect facing.

A Baneblade for instance can mount it's side sponsons in any of the three attachment points on either side. I don't even think they have to be level.

Why don't you just turn the Baneblade around and only lose out on firing the demolisher cannon the opposite direction?

There is no explicit rule requiring you to assemble the model according to the instructions it comes with, instead of modifying it to improve some part of how it functions rules-wise. But most people will expect you to have followed those assembly instructions and have all the standard dimensions/weapon arcs/etc. It's one of those things where GW assumes that their players are smart enough to figure out the obvious even if it's not explicitly stated, and people are generally not happy when you try to exploit that kind of loophole.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Ha, ha. I like it. you know something I don't think I ever fired the demolishers on any of my Baneblades. It seems counter intuitive to do anything but blow stuff
up at range.

OK let's see if Igot this right. Gorgon sponsons must face the rear. Baneblades and variants can have it's second set of sponsons face the rear. anything else it's kind of sort of cheating, or at least anoys people, so polite homicidal maniacs dont do it

Yes?
