Heroes can be found throughout all of history, all of time. In this universe magic flows freely throughout all things, whether evil or good. A world known as Arkanus is where our story begins, a world consisting of four islands united in harmony ruled by ‘The Emperor’ – the protector of all lands. As the darkness grew, the Emperor slowly succumbed to the darkness and fell, leaving the four islands in a state of panic. Evil magic spread as a result of Ork migration inland and their influenced plagued others which caused the four isles to separate from each other by forming clans. These clans refuse to trade or even protect one another from the increase in dark magic within their borders. Arkanus needs help, and THIS is why our heroes were called.
Just south of the Isle of Mearkrow known as Talonus, resides the largest College of Magic. You are introduced to Valkian Ionitus – a high elf historian of Mearkrow’s faction, known as “The Lord’s Alliance”, she explains the dire need of help to the rest of the council. After being approved, Valkian calls upon 5 heroes from different times. Using magic, they pull each of the heroes from their worlds, their universe to this one place and time.

“Pardon me for the interruption”
Although still in shock, the heroes are briefed while introducing themselves to one another. They are then given a task to infiltrate and gather as much information as possible regarding the Ork invasion and the dark magic they use – thus a great step into aligning the four Islands together in harmony. ** Essentially they were thrown into the thick of things **
Upon agreeing on their task, the heroes were teleported to the Ork stronghold. Without knowing exactly where they were, the party rallies and heads into the heavily patrolled fortress. They are then captured after fighting to the best of their abilities ** remember, they are level 1 heroes ** and taken to the Savage Ork Mage. Zugdar standing 9 feet tall, immense muscles and a plank of wood as a mask demonstrates some of the dark magic he has recently learned and pushes the bound group off a cliff into the raging sea. The party goes missing for weeks….

Upon regaining consciousness on a beach, the heroes meet a local Halfling named Winston who briefs the party as to where they are in the world, Iancia – the North Eastern Island of Arkanus, whose clan is named “Lion’s Pride”. He takes the group into his home and explains the local problems the town of Hommlet is experiencing – such as finding Winston’s missing pig “Gracie” in the barracks to the north as well as the sudden disappearance of local soldiers. The group locates Gracie and also discovers that a number of Lion’s Pride soldiers are walking around… undead… but why? After carefully investigating back in Hommlet’s small guard tower, they find notes of a man named Oshen, plotting to leave Hommlet with aims to learn dark magic. The party comes to the conclusion that the lack of soldiers is directly related to this – and thus the dark magic Oshen has learnt has turned them into zombies! The group leaves in search to eliminate Oshen.

They party travels West for a day, following the defined trails throughout Iancia. Larnia is discovered, a well-fortified stone city guarded by many stern Lion’s Pride soldiers. Upon entering, the group misses the signage of a curfew in place and is forced to stay at a local Inn. Taendiir sneaks out of the Inn to do some reconnaissance – more specifically, what’s going on in this town, why is the city so strict? Upon sneaking out, Taendiir is met but a hooded individual who offers admission to an secretive organization to overthrow Lion’s Pride. Taendiir declines and moves along in his investigation. Unsuspectingly, the town horns and sirens go off. The Jarl (leader of the town) has died in his bed due to stab wound. Taendiir is caught sneaking around the rooves of the townhouses and quickly dashes to the party as fast as his elf legs could carry him. As he regroups with the rest of the heroes, the same hooded individual appears in the corner of the room – revealing himself as a member of “The Black Curtain” a secret organization of assassins. A battle breaks out in the room and the assassin flees after he is badly wounded. The party quickly gathers their equipment and flees the city undetected from patrolling guards in search for who killed the Jarl of Larnia.

After regaining their strength overnight, the party regroups and attempts to head north. They approach a crossroad where screams could be heard “the HORROR!!!!” people cry as they run past the party. Prior to investigating, a wood-elf ally named Jolim (who they met in earlier quests back in Hommlet) debriefs them on the location of ‘The Horror’. It is a three-headed ogre-like beast that after making eye contact with it, renders you numb and paralyzed. The heroes prepare themselves for a REAL battle that will require strength and their smarts for they know they may be no match for such a creature. The battle raged on in a nearby brewery – and by using their quick thinking, used Yori’s shield like a mirror to paralyze the beast before slaying it. The party investigates the rest of the brewery only to find a cleverly placed note from Oshen. It reads “The capital will fall!” So once again, the heroes packed their gear, and headed North.

The heroes carry on through the night, where they spot a camp over the hill. Not to alarm anyone, the group sneaks carefully through the surrounding forests – not to startle anyone. They investigate that there are a number of Orks and Goblins that have captured what appears to be dozens of individuals. The party carefully tiptoes to the camp and absolutely obliterates the opposing forces except for one of the Goblins. Shaking him to his core, they intimidate him into releasing the captured individuals who later identify themselves as ‘The Knights of Solace’ – protectors of the ‘Way of the Sun’ (a religious group). After retrieving some of the Knights of Solace’s armor in the nearby crates, the last living Goblin gives away his Leader’s whereabouts and the fact that he had stolen one of the Knight’s armor. The Knights thank the party and ask to be escorted back to the nearby city of Stoneheart, the most fortified city where most of the Knights of Solace reside. One of the Sergeants of the Knights of Solace thanks the group for their rescue and tells the party about a missing stone. The stone is said to grant enhanced magical powers to anyone wielding it. The Sergeants shows the stone which resides beneath the city, clearly a large piece is missing. The party deduces that Somer (the leader of the camp that they obliterated) pretended to be a Knight and stole a shard of the Calactite stone! So the party once again, heads to where they think Somer might be, a nearby Church of Solace where he may be hiding amongst the other Knights of Solace.

The party heads to the church to the North East of Stoneheart. They discover that the church has a ward placed on it that isn’t allowing for any use of magic, “well this is odd,” the party thinks, “magic is frowned upon in Iancia.” The heroes enter and realize they cannot find Somer, however were told that one of the Knights of Solace made an exchange with a hooded figure not too long ago. “Perhaps he gave the stone to Oshen!” exclaimed Rogar. More power in the wrong hands could soon be problematic for the world, it needs to be stopped. The heroes decide to head back to Stoneheart to meet, once again, with the Sergeant in town. As they enter the fortress, they overhear a local politician named Andon who was discussing how he wanted to head back to the capital city of Iancia. “Convenient!”, the party exclaims, “we too are heading there, we shall take you.” So they head off, little did they realize what a rude and pretentious elf Andon was – with little-to-no fighting capabilities, but alas, they made their way the capital city.

Midway, the party stumbles upon a rock formation. After triggering a set of symbols using their quick thinking, a door appears in the ground – the curious adventurers make their way down the tunnel and into what they soon realize is a dungeon. They fight their way passed the black sludge monster and are reacquainted with the Demi-God of nature, Melandru.

And this is where we left off.

RESOURCES

Factions

Lord’s Alliance
Beliefs:
Recognizes that magic is found in all things – living or dead. Promotes the use and benefits of magic, however, dark magic is prohibited.

Goal:
Unite the four factions as one once again and mitigate any use of dark magic whether it be for good or for evil.

Lion’s Pride
Beliefs:
All kinds of magic is blasphemous and frowned upon, as it was the reason for the death of The Emperor, “our Lord and Savior”. We have taken up religion as a way to deter evil threats as well as greatly improved our army’s strength. We cannot rely on magic to protect us, only faith and our power will save us.

Goal:
Banish all magic throughout all of Arkanus while forcefully instilling a new religion to protect those against evil threats.

Futuro
Beliefs:
The only way to protect Arkanus is to advance our technology. While primarily living underneath the mountains, we have developed new technologies to not only bring the world closer together but to defend ourselves against our enemies.

Goal:
Instilling a new age in technology amongst all of the Isles. Magic alone will not save us, technology will.

Elysia
Beliefs:
The only person anyone can count on is yourself. Using magic to benefit one’s self is permitted, however, must consider the consequences if they do not help others. “Steal from the rich, and give to the poor”. Every Isle for themselves – but we will survive on our own.

Goal:
Thrive by increasing trade and equality within our borders. Is not interested in assisting the other Islands.

Why the borrowings from Warhammer? Specifically Wurzagg? Otherwise, seems to be pretty stock high fantasy stuff. Hopefully your group is having fun with it!

Why the borrowings? Because he's probably my favorite of Orc characters. Tis but a name, despite being the same model etc. The fact is, I use a ton of Warhammer fantasy, Malifaux, and Frostgate models for my story just for convenience.
Group is having a blast, thank you!
