My friend and I were playing a game and it so happened that I had his tervigon locked in combat but he still wanted to cast catalyst which specifies that it is made in the mocement phase. His reasoning was that it is a buff and not a shooting attack and thus could be made inside of combat. What do you think dakka? Is he right or does the rule need to specify that it can be made inside of combat? Thanks in advance!
I would say that as long as it isn't a psychic shooting attack and doesn't say it cannot be cast in combat then it would be fine for him to cast it as the regular psyker rules say can cast and there are no rules I can see disallowing it.
I don't have books on hand, but I do remember issues with older Tyranid Psychic Powers being shooting attacks that targeted friendly units. I'm pretty sure Catalyst was one such power, but I don't remember which edition that was.
