Which models have plasma and can ignore gets hot!?
Which models already re roll 1s? 2s?
Which unit would benefit most?
In my experience I used plasma plague marines because of their 3+ armor and 5+++ fnp.

Prophetic Blood Angel Librarian
|
Kataphron Battle Servitors with an attached White Scars Librarian with Hunters Eye put down 6 large st7 ap2 blasts with ignores cover. The Librarian can then cast Prescience on them for reroll scatter and reroll those 1 and 2s.
Altogether it costs 255pts.
If you put Cawl in there as a bullet sponge it will cost 455pts but it will not get removed by almost anything. 6 large tl ignores cover plasma blasts is absolutely lethal.

I use Wolf Longfangs with Corteaz attached. Up to 5 cannons and a plas gun (2 shot sm blast) with split fire. Corteaz is 100 pts for a lv 2 psy with 2+ armor and rolls on divination and he has "I've been expecting you"...

Could Tau battle suits take advantage of the reactors?
2 plasma shots at 24 inches and 4 at half range per suit with two plasma rifles.

Which FAQ?
I know the rules in the box say something like "plasma weapons as defined in Warhammer 40,000: The Rules" but people have been referring to the Inquisition Plasma Syphon FAQ (below) so it'd be great to know if there's an actual FAQ for the Haemotrope Reactor.

The most recent one that can be found on their website under the errata section.
The FAQ you've quoted there is quite old.

Sorry for being thick, but which FAQ? I can't spot it in 'Warhammer 40,000: The Rules' and there doesn't seem to be a specific Haemotrope Reactor one. January 2017 is " quite old" ( https://www.games-workshop.com/resources/PDF/Errata/Warhammer_40000/Inquisition_EN.pdf) The argument is whether or not the Inquisition FAQ definition of plasma weapons is universal, or strictly limited to the Ulumeathi Plasma Syphon (which is my reading). An FAQ stating the the Haemotrope Reactor only affects plasma pistols, guns & cannons would solve this. Automatically Appended Next Post: I'm not trying to be confrontational - I've got a couple of tournaments coming up that I'd love to take plasma Kataphrons to (with Haemotrope Reactors) but they're normally not worth the arguments.

On a related note, does anyone know if Tau plasma weapons get hot on 1 and 2 like other things, or do they still not get hot at all?

Regular plasma for tau does not iirc, but is lower strength (6)
I think the Riptide may have something that does, but i'm nit sure.

The Viletide: Daemons of Nurgle/Deathguard: 7400 pts
Disclples of the Dragon - Ad Mech - about 2000 pts
GSC - about 2000 Pts
Rhulic Mercs - um...many...
Circle Oroboros - 300 Pts or so
Menoth - 300+ pts

Normal Tau plasma, indeed, does not have the Gets Hot! rule, but the Haemotrope Reactor says "...however, their weapon also Gets Hot! on rolls of a 1 or 2, instead of just 1." Does that mean they gain the Gets Hot! (on a 1 or 2) or just ignore this part of the rules since they don't have Gets Hot! in the first place. I'd lean towards the latter, but i didn't know if that had been previously clarified.
In regards to Riptides, you're thinking of the overcharged version of the ion accelerator. It's not plasma, but it does have Gets Hot!
