I am a huge fan of the new airships and the classic Steam Tank so I am looking to put together a warmachines-heavy Order list:

Hero:
Jade Battlemage (Collegiate Arcane) - 100
Sorceress (Darkling Covens) - 80

Battleline:
Arkanaut Company (Aetherflare Pistol Captain, 2x Volley Gun, 1x Light Skyhook, 6x Pistols) - 120

Behemoth:

Grundstok Gunhauler (Drill Cannon) - 220

So the idea here is to throw the Arkanaut Company units into the airships (2x in the Ironclad, 1x in the Frigate) and deploy the fleet together with Gunhaulers in the middle of the Ironclad and Frigate so that they can soak damage off of both. The Steam Tank advances as needed and also provides cover for the mages. The Jade Battlemage will look to heal the Steam Tank or an airship each turn while the Sorceress will often be throwing Mystic Shield on one of the warmachines.

I wouldn't think the two mages and steamtank you have would pull enough weight to make up for loosing the kharadron allegiance.

If you actually want to do mixed order with kharadron what do you think about starting with 20 mortars and a khemist with a hurricanum? Yeah that's a chunk of points but good golly talk about laying down some punishment. You said you like artillery and you might as well be dropping 3 whirlwinds on the table. Damage wise.

Then you could do a steam tank and a couple gun haulers. If you are going general order I'm not sure arkanauts are the best choice for battleline, unless they each have their own ride but that's 400 points each.
