I saw on the Litko website, tokens for Shadow War: Armageddon:

The two-tone gimmick is very attractive!

Yeah, it looks pretty sweet.

Changing the colours slightly between tokens would have been nice.
But, I expect they are made using 2 materials, and that isn't possible when they are made as a set.
They do look good, though.

Just because GW decided to use tokens with impenetrable symbols on doesn't mean everyone else has to. I'm going to dig out my Necromunda tokens - the ones that say "Hiding", "Overwatch" and "Run" on them.

Edit: I see the Litko ones also have the words on them. Good job.

I think the Litko ones are little better though.

This is the email I got from the owner of Litko in regards to the tokens last week:

We are currently developing the tokens right now, I should have multiple choices by the end of the week. We previewed them on our Facebook page.

I have planned a set of regular etched shape tokens, special two-tone token, fire arc gauges, and alternate color acrylic flame and area templates.

When released they will all have the tag, Shadow War: Armageddon when searching our store.

You can definitely touch base with them if you're interested in a different color scheme.

For me, I'm going to wait a week or two to see if their going to do a regular etched shape tokens. It might meet my price point better.

I made my own for Necro too, but they eventually went into the garbage. TIme to make more!

Pro-tip: make yourself some "Pinned" and "Down" tokens, because laying your models on the board will never not be stupid.

I love Litko.

But if you are even remotely handy in graphic design, you could make your own sturdy tokens using shrinky dinks ink jet printer 'paper'.

Or another route which I am currently testing out is acrylic circles that go under your bases. For example: if you use 32 mm bases, get 32mm circles cut in different colors of acrylic.
Red for down, green for run, yellow for pinned, etc. each effect is color coded and just placed beneath the figs base.
The idea is to keep the table clutter down and give a solid indicator of a models status at a glance. Lots of possibilities there.

I've seen a couple companies do similar things with the discs and magnetize get them as well, which is a rather good idea.

Exactly. Amen to that.

Further edit:
I just noticed fire arcs templates on the Litko link. It's a neat idea, but that seems to be better suited to games that don't have ton of terrain getting in the way that makes using them awkward at best. Like bfg.

Again, a more clutter free/cheaper/more accurate method is to use the base to your advantage and just paint the fire arc on the side of the bases. Warmahordes players have been doing it for years.

No, I prefer just lying them down. That's better for me, as it reduces table clutter.

I never really bother with "run" tokens either; it's not too hard to just remember which one ran. Admittedly with the -1 to-hit modifier introduced in SW:A it's handy to remind your opponent, I suppose.

Yeah, I didn't bother with run tokens before, but now I will for the reason you outlined.

I can't stand physically proning models, though, for several reasons -- paint job risk, erosion of exactitude regarding the board position of the model, the changing effects of cover (both for and from) a model as it flops around, etc.

It also just looks lame. Based models will never look good on their side. I'll take the extra token clutter any day. With ~10 models per player and not really needing more than ~6 dice for a game a Shadow War table is normally quite clutter-free by default.

That's deliberate - a Pinned or Downed model has "literally" fallen to the ground, so LOS should change. A model behind waist-high cover who is hit and becomes Pinned will go out of LOS. This can be important for Sustained Fire, for example.

As for clutter, I played a game last week where there wasn't room to place a token next to several models (I had to let my opponent to take back a couple of moves because he didn't realise one of my models was Hidden; the token was a few inches away on the nearest flat space).

Thanks for the heads up! These look very swank-but I think it would get a bit pricey for my Ork Kill Team (especially since our taktic, being Goff, is 'everybody run over there and hit 'em'). If I could buy more "Run" tokens without buying more of each of the other base tokens, I might go for it, but three or four sets just to get enough is too much cash for me.

It's also weird that they give out 5 Loot tokens, when scenarios consistently deploy d6. I'm not going to pay for tokens only to not have enough 1 time out of 6.
