To all who may here me, Greetings! I have just moved from southern California to northern Illinois. Specifically, I live in Fox Lake. Now, the great google tells me that there are stores in Round Lake, Grays Lake, Lindenhurst, and Antioch. Those are all location which are within a reasonable distance of Fox Lake. So, I am looking for players from those locations who can tell me about their stores. I will, of course, be going around to each of them to check them out; but, thought I should drop this here just in case there is a gaming group that does not meet at the stores. Now, as for myself, I run Imperial Guards with 2 Imperial Knights for support. I have 70 odd troops divided between 2 companies, a few Wyverns, 5 Leman Russes, a Manticore, and assorted other heavy equipment. No flyers, couldn't fit them in the car for the trip. So, my army is very shooty and very slow, but oh so much fun. My grasp on the rules isn't solid, but; I know all the roles that apply to my army, and 8th is coming anyways. So, if you are in the area and you play or are thinking about playing again let me know. I would love to watch my army get annihilated. I am also interested in pen and paper RP games.

These threads/this sub forum doesn't get a whole lot of attention, its mainly a waiting game.

There are a group of us who play further south, but definitely more beer/pretzels style. I'm about an hour south (St Charles), so when we hold bbq's during the summer, it's a reasonable drive, but our league is probably a bit far.

I ran the Gentlemen's at Adepticon, and am running the Narrative Friendly and Team Friendly at Dragonfall in October. I may run a formal Friendly Gentlemen Style late July, depending on work, but there will be informal ones regardless.

Some of us (like me) are fine with a harder ITC style game, as long as we know that's what you want in advance (no one likes bringing a knife to a gunfight).

Gentlemen is just what it sounds like - talk to your opponent ahead of time, and make sure you are both bringing a list that the other can live with, so both folks have a good game. If folks drink, enjoy yourselves. If someone is getting too serious, remember that most folks could be working/dealing with sig other-child-Ex's/doing projects around the house/etc, so gaming is supposed to be more fun

In a tournament setting, that just means lists are reviewed ahead of time, and multiple lists are allowed (with some structure for picking based on rankings). We are all super excited for 8th!

Most of us have tables (I have 12+, for example), so we meet in stores for after work games sometimes, but usually at folks' houses.

I'm in Grayslake. I don't get out and play much, but if I did, it would either be at Unique Games and Gifts in Grayslake or Brass City Games in Round Lake (I still haven't had a chance to visit).

I've been down to Games+ for games, but that's still to go there to play another Lake County player!

I'm in Grayslake. I'm not sure how much 40k goes on at Unique Gifts and Games in Grayslake, but they do sell some GW stuff. I haven't played 40K myself in a while, though I am looking forward to 8th edition. I'm more of a casual/fun/narrative gamer than a competitive one. I'm hoping when 8th comes out I'll be able to find some like-minded people in the area to play 40k with.
