Hi everyone,

Been playing Khorne recently (thoroughly enjoying them but working on getting to a competitive 2K list) and am really interested in my second army to work on being the Beastclaw Raiders. They seem really resilient and have some great abilities.

I wondered how competitive they are from anyone who has played with them regularly. They seem to have great survival and a good mix of Missile and Melee.

Additionally, working up to getting a 2000 point list, I wondered how good Braggoth's Beast Hammer is compared to a pure Beastclaw list. I think the pure has better survivability but the Beast Hammer seems to have great movement and can impact caputring and point-scoring.

Pure Beastclaw Raiders list:
General = Frostlord on Stonehorn (460pts) with Massive Bulk and Pelt of Charngar
Huskard on Stonehorn (380pts)
4 X Mournfang (400) Culling Clubs and Iron Fists
Stonehorn Beastriders (360pts)
Thundertusk Beastriders (320pts)
Eurlbad (60pts)
1980/2000pts

Braggoth's Beast Hammer list:
General = Frostlord on Stonehorn (460pts) Pelt of Charngar
Huskard on Thundertusk (340pts)
6 X Mournfang (600pts) Culling Clubs and Iron Fists
3 X Orruk Gore Gruntas (180pts)
3 X Orruk Gore Gruntas (180pts)
Braggoth's Beast Hammer (160pts)
1920/2000pts

Any advice would be appreciated.

BTW imho Beastclaw raiders is the most boring army to play agains. I watch Miniwargaming and Josh plays (and often wins) with Beastclaws - it's soooo boring.

It can be a fun challenge however, but if you arent specifically geared for them they can come as a brutal surprise and really hammer you down. I do agree that in small points matches it goes as follows:

Frostlord on Stonehorn dies turn 1 - Opponent wins
Frostlord on Stonehorn isnt dead end of turn 2 - Beastclaw player wins.

As for the beasthammer lists, I just really dont rate gore gruntas when compared to the sheer brutality that your Beastclaws already bring, in a list thats full of cavalry and fast monsters, having a less robust but not as good cavalary isnt a huge reward.

Soon his foes would learn that the only thing more dangerous than a savage three hundred pound brute is a savage three hundred pound brute with a plan - Ork Codex

Yeah the mix of Gore Gruntas does seem a bit lackluster after some thought - especially with what the Beastclaws have to offer.

Thanks for the points guys, I have done a bit more research and seen some of the core concerns with the Beastclaws (mainly the lack of models). I do like the general feel of the army though.

Good shout ArtyomTrityak on Miniwargaming. Josh does seem to play them well though. I was particularly interested in the Ogres list that seems pretty well rounded against Ironjawz. Instead of pure Beastclaw I am currently working on adding in some Artillery and Ogors inspired by that list. Gives a few more bodies to deal capturing requirements. I already have an Ironblaster and some Ogors so this plan may work out better.
