Hello, so I took a break from 40k after 5th edition and have recently started playing again. I thought I had gotten a firm understanding of the whole detachments and formations thing but I started looking online at competitive Space Wolves lists, as I play Space Wolves, and I kept finding the list below. In it it claims they are taking a CAD but in their Heavy Support they are taking a Sicaran and Rapiers which unless I am missing something do not fall under the Space Wolves faction. Is there a special rule that allows these two units to be used in any Imperium army or something?

I get the Assassin at the bottom can be in the list because it is in its own Assassins Detachment but can anyone tell me how this player is getting the Sicaran and Rapiers without being unbound or running them in a different detachment?

They're from Forgeworld and you'll find their profiles and army selection rolls and legal armies in Imperial Armour Vol.2.

Nasty bits of gear.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Forgeworld.. another term for purchasing hate in mass from players across you're table.

One has to wonder. Do the Tyranids consider drop-assault troops... fast food?

Not so much these days, Forgeworld produces hated stuff you're not kidding but mainstream GW stuff earns every bit the same venom these days.
Put a Riptide Wing or a few units of Scattbikes on a table and you will know what hate means.

Riptides & Scatbikes I can deal with as long as you cane take out the necessary models to make sure they lose what they really want to shoot at you.

I had to play against a massed armored detachment from my shops resident Smurf cheese artist.

Three Leviathans, each in a drop pod.
Two Achilles Patter LR - Loaded with Termies

And a Vortex missile battery loaded down with just one gak squad of Tactical's, lead by his usual choice of "Master" HQ.. and guess who would fire the missiles?

This is also coming from a man who I have seen run a complete "parking lot" army on several tournaments.

One has to wonder. Do the Tyranids consider drop-assault troops... fast food?
