Thinking about re-starting my 40k gaming career for 8th edition after a very long time away from the game (like maybe since 4th edition). Now I know that its impossible to judge a list for 8th edition before it has even come out, I was wondering if I could get some opinions or advice from people on this 7th edition list that I am playing around with. Its a Chaos space marine codex list based on Emperor's children. Everything in the list has MOS and VOTLW when possible and is based on fluff rather than being super competitive..and no please no Firedrakes..However I do want to be somewhat competitive and not a pushover.

1500pts CSM (emperor's children)
------------------------------------------------
HQ
CHAOS LORD (155)
MOS, VOTLW, terminator armor, combi weapon, Melta bombs, Lightning claw

SORCERER (170)
MOS, VOTLW, 2 extra Mastery levels, Spell familiar, Sigil of Corruption

TROOPS
6 NOISE MARINES (162)
3x Sonic blasters, 1 Blastmaster, Meltabomb, VOTLW

6 NOISE MARINES (162)
3x Sonic blasters, 1 Blastmaster, Meltabomb, VOTLW

8 NOISE MARINES (225)
Sorcerer goes here..
7x Sonic Blasters, Doom siren, Melta bomb, Icon of excess, VOTLW

RHINO (40) for 9 Noise marines
Dirge Caster

ELITES
5 TERMINATORS (237) Chaos Lord goes here..
MOS, VOTLW, 4x Combi weapons, 1 Repeater Autocannon

HELLBRUTE (125)
Plasma Cannon, Power scourge

FAST ATTACK

6 CHAOS BIKERS (178)

MOS, VOTLW, 2 Plasma guns

have about 45 pts left..Could add an icon of excess to the bikers or add some extra equipemtn options to the 9 man Noise marines. Could also cut maybe a few things and add 10 cultists with MOS. Let me know what you guys think.
In case your wondering about the Hellbrute, Its there because I wish to start the collection with a starter set of "Start Collecting! Chaos Space Marines" for $100. Besides I think dreadnoughts are getting buffed in 8th. Also all squads are in multiples of 6 and 9 for fluff reasons in case your wondering

As for the Army tactics. The 2 smaller Noise marines are mostly objective campers backed up by the hellbrute, The mobile element will be provided by the deep striking termies with lord, 9 man Noise marines with sorcerer in rhino and the bikers. The sorcerer will hopefully buff the noise marines.

Do I have enought Anti-infantry or Anti-tank included? Enought mobility or CC power?
Any opinions or critiques are welcome

Are you fielding a kakaphoni formation, because I think judging by everything you have here, you could form a full Rapture Battalion. You have a sorcerer, who can be your Warlord. You have your chaos lord and three units of noise marines (the kakaphoni, who incidentally get Split Fire and I think Shred - don't have the book to hand.)
Not sure how you'd organise everything else into an auxiliary formation - maybe just add spawn? I wouldn't recommend a Helbrute unless you have a lot of them, but then again it's a great centrepiece for any small-scale army, so I can see why you might want to keep it. My favourite is a Favoured of Chaos formation - 3 6-man possessed units and a daemon prince.

I would, as far as possible, give everything that you think is worth giving an icon of excess, but definitely the bikers. It's amazing how durable a 4+ FNP makes a unit. I had three 6-man possessed units in a game, foot-slog across the entire board and mulch everything they came into close combat with, and only started taking losses in about turn three or early turn 4. Do not underestimate the power of 4+ FNP would be my advice.

I approve of the strategic placing of the sorcerer - I think I see what you have in mind there... S5 Sonic blasters are no joke.

Overall, looks fairly solid. My recommendations all depend on what kind of detachment you want, and whether you want to make the most out of the Slaaneshi rules in Traitor Legions (though that may all change in 8th ed.) Personally, I'd go for more blastmasters but that's generally because I have possessed and daemonettes to get in close and do all the dirty work so the noise marines usually sit back and camp, as you say. As your list stands, I wouldn't recommend getting too close. Your lord, termies and potentially the Brute seem to be the only nasty CC unit there, though the doom siren may come in handy - especially if you go for split fire.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Hey Thanks for the input Drakeslayer. Much appreciated.

I don't currently own the traitor legion supplement and there would be no point in getting it now with 8th coming out soon and so am not running any formations. Just straight out out the dex really.

I agree with you about the bikers should be given the icon of excess and think you are right in that I may be little short in the CC component. I will try to fit in some more CC weapons for the 9 man squad as they will likely be up at the front and close to the enemy.

At 1650, I would likely throw in a Daemon prince of Slaanesh
to add an extra bit more power.

Thanks again

When it comes to some nasty close combat units, you can't outdo most build for the possessed marines. Though you can also add Fabius Bile, and then use combat drugs on the same squad.

He has been a fun IC for some time now, and even using him with a squad of Berserkers is one of the most hilarious things to see.

If only you had a land raider to stuff the whole squad into, then you can ramp the fun up to 11.

To be honest the powers that are available to you're Sorcerer are not the best to work with. Save for a few choice ones at least.

The Kakaphoni formation will add an extra +1 strength to all sonic weapons, and even without that you're blast masters can threaten most medium sized vehicles.

One has to wonder. Do the Tyranids consider drop-assault troops... fast food?
