Digging around on Steam for some RTS action I landed on Northgard which is a viking fantasy themed RTS. I've played it through several times and I'm highly enjoying it. It focuses on territory and resource management with 4-5 different victory conditions. One of of the win conditions is task based which varies by the map, reforging Odin's Sword for instance requires controlling a unique territory with volcanic fires, another is defeating the Wyvern and settling it's territory, etc.

Each clan has it's own specialty and management benefit, there's a skill tree for researching advancements that unlock resource benefits, new units, or buildings. The military combat is a bit more downplayed than other RTS games as it only has two main units warriors and a chieftain but there's still plenty of fighting to be had. The wolf clan gets a special berserker unit once they build up enough fame and there's also a giant which can be recruited by any clan that trades enough food with the Jotnar.

In addition to the other clans you need to conquer lands controlled by Bears, Packs of Wolves, Draugar and Fallen Valkyries.

It's still in early release and multiplayer is on the way, so far I'm very impressed with the game and IMO it was well worth the purchase.
