Ok, so I have a tournament tomorrow and am taking a Human team, although I have only actually played one quick game and so was wondering what the best tactics for the following are:

Total gold: 1,300,000
Team:
Lineman x6
Blitzer x2
Catcher x2
Thrower x2
Ogre
(Basically all the models I have)

Rerolls: 4

Most likely to vs: Dwarfs, Skaven and Orcs

I don't think I've spent all the gold yet so any advice there would be appreciated as would be the best tactics to use against the aforementioned armies.

Thanks in advance

Vs Dwarfs, us the Ogre to make a hole (on a flank is ideal) then outpace them. Do not let them make a cage, and steer clear of any deathrollers.

Vs Orcs, the classic matchup; you outskill and outpace them but not by a lot. You can outmanoeuvre them or you can gang up to beat them down but not both on the same turn, and watch for tricksy coaches bringing trolls and goblins. The Ogre should be a hard counter for a troll but give him some backup anyway.

Vs Skaven, they are faster than you and more agile. Expect to blink and suddenly find two or three rats in your back field with no idea how they got there, and plan for it with more of your own guys in the back field. Skaven are one of the few teams humans can legitimately out-muscle most of the time so don't be afraid to be aggressive. If they bring a Rat Ogre, show em what a Real Ogre can do.

The above is good advice for the matchups. Don't forget about the basics though!

-Always look for ways to set up favorable two dice blocks. Ordering your blocks for good follow-ups can create new opportunities for these.

-At the same time, don't be so focused on blocking that you give up field position. Sometimes it's fine to play zone defense to slow down your opponent rather than move a player out of position to beat them up.

-Play to the clock and keep in mind how long it will take for either team to score. That can help dictate your strategy and whether you want to play aggesssively or defensively (or let you know when to start fouling if you can't score in time).

Good luck!
