I was watching Black Hawk Down the other day, and it gave me the idea of a new hobby project i.e recreating a war torn African or Middle Eastern city.

So I was wondering are there miniatures and rulesets out there for this sort of thing: Iraq in 2003 or Somalia or Yugoslavia back in the 1990s?

I'm looking for something similar to Bolt Action.

Thanks for any replies.

The makers of Skirmish Sangin released an expansion via Kickstarter to recreate just such a scenario; the battle of Mogadishu et al.

Also check out spectre operations by spectre miniatures. Haven't played a game with the rules but am reading my way through them.

Force on Force was basically the updated and expanded ruleset for that. And a Somalia sourcebook was published that included a string of scenarios covering those events. Unfortunately, both books are out of print (though I suspect you can still get the e-books), as the maker is in the process of getting out a new edition of Ambush Alley as a semi-replacement for Force on Force.

The last time I checked, the announced eta on the new Ambush Alley had already come and gone.
