Hi, I just bought a necron army yesterday(kind of on a whim because it was such a good deal) and I am going to have a game today but I don't know much about them. I would like a few tips on what to use in games around 750 pts. Mostly what kind of HQ to go with and equipment, and what are some popular choices for heavy support, elites, and stuff like that. I don't want to take anything too cheesy. I have a few of almost every kind of unit except some of the HQ's but its a friendly game so proxies are allowed.

Any and all advice is welcome, Thanks

Tomb blades are considered good while not overly cheesy.
Wraiths are our best fast attack, but destroyers are good, awesome in their formation but it's expensive. Warriors in a GA is a good shooting platform, but the GA can die pretty quick to dedicated anti-AV. Flayed ones are good in a squad of 20, Unless your running a strategy, usually keep HQ's naked and cheap, only one that's good by themselves is a D/Lord with gear, and chuck him in wraiths or praetorians and can get pretty nasty in CC.

Thanks. I went with a couple of ghost arks with some warriors in them. Another squad of 10 and a lord with a warscythe and res orb running up the board in between them to benifit from the arks res rule. 3 wraiths and 5 tomb blades. They worked quite well and gave a good idea on what i have to work with. A d/lord with some wraiths sounds particularly nasty, might try that in the future. It will be interesting to see how much necrons are toned down in 8th or if other factions will get brought up to their level.

Me too, we have a few unique rules that can go a few different ways.

Tesla/gauss, both our only weapons (aside from particle weapons, but theyre pretty rare), both need unique rulings on them, tesla will probably stay with extra shots on a 6 to hit, but gauss could go a few ways.....

Quantam shielding, no idea how thats going to work

RP, will it stay in its current form?

C'tan powers .........

yea lots of different things to be excited about, I hope we can still run speed crons as its my favourite.

Glad to see you liked your cron's, Welcome. Join us on our tactica page, lots of 8th ed discussions!
