I was looking at the map GW posted and it still says Cadia is a fortress world. Is it destroyed still? Or are they already negating the whole Cadia blew up thing like in Gathering Storm? ? ?

Cadia is 'Destroyed'

in a more extreme way the Dinosaurs were made extinct when the comet hit..

The world itself is still there but it is a broken planet and unlikely to be able to support life for much longer.. it is in effect a dead world...

Apparently the Imperium has plans to take it back for morale reasons, but as a fortress world it will likely have little to no value

Edit: Nevermind, you have. Yes it is still there, but it barely resembles a planet anymore.

Edit 2: Cadia can refer to the planet, or the Cadian system itself.

There's still a place called Cadia. Its not what it once was though. On the map the area surrounding Cadia is very purple, so I think its safe to say Cadia as we know it is gone.

But there are other planets in the system? So would the Cadian Shock Troops be still around because of the neighborhood planets?

Neighboring planets and all the various worlds that they have fought/settled on across the Imperium.

Cadia is gone- the Guard have failed.

But don't worry. Big Papa Guilliman and his band of Chadmarines will reclaim it.

But my main concern is GW will go away with the Cadian models. I really like them and want to build a Cadian themed army. But if they cancel the models...

That is not likely to happen. The Cadian methods and patterns for warfare and equipment have been copied and replicated across the Imperium. Unless we get new kits, I don't see the current line going anywhere anytime soon.

that said the guard kit is getting a little old, I could see once GW gets eneugh Primaris Marines up,. the Guard getting a new treatment too. really it'd not be that hard to do. GW would only need to make 3 new kits or so

And I can't wait for when the new Cadians come. They're gonna be glorious! Now we just need Forge World to write an Imperial Armour featuring them so we know that they're recruiting from other worlds and are still going strong

I could see Cadians getting a Fire Warriors like refresh of the kit, with an alternate build and more options in the box.

While I can understand being absent the heavy weapon squad, because that's quite a bit of extra sprue, it would be pretty neat for them to actually have the meltagun and plasmagun options in the squad kit. Not as neat as it would have back when I started my IG army years ago, but still pretty neat.

And hopefully, finally somewhat human proportions. The Cadian kits have some of the worst proportions of all remaining models (only the Catachans are worse).

WRT new Cadians, I just noticed something in this pic:



Check the commander type guy in the middle. Look at his sword arm. I don't think it's an old metal commander, and I'm pretty sure that sword arm isn't in the command squad sprue.

Thoughts?

That sword comes from the Officer-looking dude in the Baneblade kit. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's not a new kit in the picture. The head of the flag-bearer on the far right is from the Baneblade kit as well.

Doh! Yeah, I think you're right. I just didn't recognize it from that angle. I think the far right guy's greatcoat legs were a baneblade kit thing too, IIRC.

I could see GW making Cadia Remnant or whatever it's own sub factions in a future release. I know their is other recruit ingredients world for Cadian troops but with the losse of Cadia ot would be the perfect time to update the range in the near future. I would totally buy them if they don't have a bunch of big potatoe head.

And so the Cadian diaspora begins; bring on the smurf retribution.
