Hi guys,
I'm playing my first game of kill team in a couple of days and I would like some advice on the army list I have put together. Ill admit that I haven't played a game of 40K for at least 8 years, so my experience of how this edition plays is very limited.
We are playing standard GW kill team rules from the updated book.
I'm going to be playing a fallen angels kill team using the alpha legion traitor legions rules.

10csm - VotLW
Champion (kill team leader) - standard load out
Plasma gun - specialist (preferred enemy)
Autocannon - specialist (relentless)
Replace bolter with CCW - specialist (killer instincts)
Rhino - standard loadout.

200 pts

The autocannon and the plasma gun will be firing from the rhino (the AC making use of relentless). Also all of my team has infiltrate as per AL rules. This is about where my strategical knowledge and planning ends, so obviously any advice would really help.

Cheers in advance.

hmm... 200pts for something so small, and using an army that usually isn't very point efficient.

Though I have to admit you have access to some rather hard hitting toys compared to other army supplements.

I would suggest keeping several auxiliary models off to the side just in case you want to switch out gear. Like a heavy flamer, or any more high pen weapons.

With so little models to work with I can't really offer more help than that. But this coming from a Grey Knights players, I can tell you that's its just as hard for me to run low points matches.

One has to wonder. Do the Tyranids consider drop-assault troops... fast food?

Yea 200 pts isn't much, but everyone else is in the same boat. I'm not exactly sure what everyone else will be playing but I have a feeling some of the other kill teams will be eldar, tau and space marines.
I had another kill team that I was considering which didn't include a rhino, but instead had 5 chosen and 5 CSM.
I'm still tossing up between the two as i'm not sure which one will work better.
Good shout on having more equip options though, i'll be sure to take them along.

Dropping the rhino is a good idea, in a match like that model count is going to be a upside, and the rhino could still get popped by one jerk with a lascannon. I did a 250-500 league match using the escalation rules. My first opponent was running three tarantula turrets, two scout squads, and two tactical marine squads.

You're best hope is to go with stock weaponry on you're main squad members, and keep the really important relics on you're ACs. I would suggest melta to keep away from someone blowing his face off with his own plasma rifle. Also do not forget to use you're ammo choices, for running a kill team that is one of the most effective methods I've seen to controlling the table.

One has to wonder. Do the Tyranids consider drop-assault troops... fast food?

Well I think we will be playing a team game of 3 on 3, or 4 on 4. So you are probably right about it getting picked off. In terms of model count there are actually more models using CSM and a rhino (11). The benefit of running with the chosen + CSM (10) I think will be think will be the extra Ld, extra attacks and more equip choices.
I do like the idea of the auto cannon cruising around on the rhino with relentless though, but if it is just gonna get picked off maybe it isn't worth it.

Try to find someone to help test run this before going to the match, and seeing what comes out of it.

Had a game this week. Ended up going for 5 chosen and 5 csm.
I played against orks and templars and ended up winning soundly.
I would say that the list worked really well, but I must admit I missed not having a rhino.
The Templar's player took a rhino and it really forced some hard tactical decisions when trying to work out how to deal with it. It ended up being quite difficult to deal with using just one melta and it ended up being the last model on the board for them.
Another thing I noticed was that there really wasn't much difference between how the chosen and the CSM performed especially with VotLW.
I'm interested to see how my original list will perform. So next match I think I'll be getting the rhino out.
Cheers for all the feedback and suggestions, it was a fun return to the hobby.

In Lockdown

I have found that surprisingly warp talons are very effective in kill team, if you can make it so that your enemies rarely have LoS to your models, and keep on the move before creeping up on them and eviscerating them. But not so good against larger kill teams with moar dakka.

Bikers are perversely good in kill team games, but I realise this is very unfluffy. Nurgle bikers with a couple with meltaguns would prove quite a challenge.

Going for chosen accompanied by lots of cheap, small-arms fire cultists could be a good way to ensure you have a good model-count but also plenty of chaos marines armed to the teeth with nasty weaponry. Ultimately kill team is a shooting game however, and he who brings the most dakka invariably wins.

Do you know what your sin is, Malcolm Reynolds?
Ah hell, I'm a fan of all seven.
But right now, I'm gonna have to go with wrath.

Can you take havocks instead of chosen?
