Hello all,

I picked up Icestorm, in great part due to Nomad's miniatures & fluff.

I am going to put the cart before the horse and expand up to 200-205pts before having played a single game (just 1 more figure added to each side). Let me know your thoughts on these additions.

As for my guiding principle, I like to have duplicative units on the board that serve similar roles. I feel this provides tactical flexibility and survivability. Here are the two lists, with the additions in bold.

Nomad 200:

3 Alguacil w/ combi-rifle
2 (1) Mobile Brigada w/ missile launcher & multi-rifle + lt flamer
1 Grenzer w/ multi-sniper rifle
1 Spektr w/ combi-rifle
1 Reverand Healer w/ combi-rifle

I intend to make one of the Brigades the lieutenant. I like having two heavy infantry to hold the line and form a tough fire-base (it helps that I really like the armor's aesthetics).

Pan Oceania 200:

3 Fusiliers w/ combi-rifle
1 ORC w/ multi-rifle
2 (1) Akal Commando w/ spitfire & combi-rifle
1 Nisse w/ multi-sniper rifle
1 Father-Knight - either w/ spitfire or as Hacker w/ combi-rifle

I probably will make the ORC the lieutenant, though I am considering giving the Father-Knight the role. Though I was initially tempted to add a second ORC, I decided having an additional mobile unit to better control the battlefield was the greater priority.

I also have my next 100pts planned for both, so your input is welcome on these ideas too.

Nomad 300:

3 Alguacil w/ combi-rifle
2 Mobile Brigada w/ missile launcher & multi-rifle + lt flamer
1 Grenzer w/ multi-sniper rifle
1 Spektr w/ combi-rifle
1 Reverand Healer w/ combi-rifle
1 Szalamandra w/ hr magnetic cannon + hvy flamer
1 Zondbot (to accompany Reverand Healer or Grenzer [or someone else, as I don't really know how 'bots operate])

The Szalamandra's MagCannon sounds & looks really cool and adds to the strong fire base started with the prior missile launcher addition.

Pan Oceania 300:

3 Fusiliers w/ combi-rifle
1 ORC w/ multi-rifle
2 Akal Commando w/ spitfire & combi-rifle
1 Nisse w/ multi-sniper rifle
1 Father-Knight Hacker w/ combi-rifle
1 Tikbalang w/ hvy machine gun + hvy flamer & Crabbot
1 Fugazi Dronbot (to accompany Nisse, maybe Father-Knight)

It seems to me that the the Tikbalang is one of the more mobile TAG units of substance and thus would complement well my board-control goal embodied in the Akal Commando units.

I considered adding engineers to these 300 pt forces, but I am not sure where to squeeze the points from.

Use the army builder here --> https://army.infinitythegame.com/ . It can be downloaded too, under the options tab. To see the download options, you may have to close some of the categories though-- click the black triangle next to printing to close that. There is also a mobile version for Android. It makes things so very easy. You can easily experiment with all sorts of lists.

This is the starter from Icestorm:

Cool, eh? Anyway, one of the fun things about Infinity is that you can make and play multiple lists. There is no need to have The One List in this game. So, buy minis that look like fun to paint and play. Worst case, you use them as proxies. That said, if you want to play ITS scenarios, you'll need specialists. Most Nomad players I know love their Hackers. So consider getting one of those. Bear in mind that Infinity plays differently from other tabletop miniatures games, and your experiences with other TTGs may not be very useful in guiding your list-building. There is a bit of 'un-learning' needed. You may want buy a few minis then to play a few games then buy a few more minis based on what you learned.

Also, here is the download page for the rules and the ITS scenarios and other useful things --> http://infinitythegame.com/archive.php. And finally a Wiki, http://wiki.infinitythegame.com/en

Welcome to the game.

Welcome to Infinity, I agree with Red Harvest, play some games first even if it is the starter mission in the the box.

I also bought into IceStorm, I played 1st edition Infinity then walked away due to poor availability around me. I was relieved to see that is has come back into my area with a vengeance.

The Szalamandra is a good TAG but cannot be taken in any sectoral army for Nomads, playing a sectoral army and having Fire Teams is a huge plus than not having them IMO. Vanilla Nomads has its pluses too. The Szal is my favorite TAG and weighs a ton.

Okay, your armies are not the worst I have seen, but they could be improved.

300 point nomads:
Your list here is light on the orders whilst including several order-hungry units, and also lacks focus. For starters the Szalamandra, whilst an amazing heavy killer, is completely wasted here as it lacks enough cheerleaders to run. It is also, quite frankly, not the best TAG to bring when you are a beginner. Both expensive and specialised it really needs some experience to work. For beginners I usually advise the use of the Lizard TAG, which is cheaper and far more versatile. The grenzer is a waste of pints in all honesty - Knauf is cheaper and better when it comes to playing the Sniper role, so drop him for now.
For a 300 point list with a TAG I would advise something like this:

Group one is played as the defensive group, with the three F/O's capable of taking objectives and laying down a nice Repeater network for the Interventor. The Reaktion Zond and the Sin Eater both provide amazing levels of overwatch and when placed in cover can become a major nightmare to your opponent (I had this combination hold off an entire Onyx Contact force for one and a half turns, although he eventually shifted them it still nearly cost him the game) whilst the second group is your active/killer group. The Clockmaker keeps your TAG running whilst your Lizard can either bombard units on Suppressive fire or hose enemy units with MULTI HMG fire. Just dont forget to position it in coverand stick it on Suppressive at the end of your turn.

Alternatively there is also this list, without a TAG:

Once again a Reaktion Zond and a Sin Eater provide overwatch, whilst your anti-big things is handled by the Riot Grrl with her Blitzen, or the Vertigo Zond with its Guided Launcher. The real scare here is your Morlock whom can get across the board fast and be a major threat to enemy units in close quarters - use him as a threat to distract the enemy.

At 200 points your lists are also lacking. Once again, TWO Mobile Brigadas, one whom is carrying a Missile Launcher? A Grenzer? These lists lack orders or specialists to make them run. Try these instead:

A three man Brigada link at 200 points? Maybe not the strongest list, but still fun to play.
