Hey all,

I'm working on a project which is essentially an ork portal with plans to have a "Herald of G/Mork" emerging. I know that this does not necessarily fit with the cannon, but I was trying to figure out what exactly an ork born from the warp would look like. If I recall, G/Mork are so powerfull as individual gods because they do not segment their power to create lesser demons, however; it seems like they logically could create their own warp entities if they wanted to. Aesthetically, chaos demons tend to take on the appearance of their god and tend to maintain a twisted visage based on the idea that they are fed from negative aspects of non-warp life forms negative emotions (I think?). With that - would an ork entity simply be a bigger, more toothy ork? would it have mechanical components like a mek, or would it simply be a biological killing machine with natural defenses like jagged bones protruding from it's skin? What do you think it might look like?

At this point, i'm stuck on the idea of using an incredible hulk toy and modeling it out to be a huge behemoth. Ideally, I'd like to make a cast of it out of clear resin, drybrush over it, and install an led to let light pour through the crevices. Just trying to get some thoughts before I start putting together all of the materials.

Thanks!

Yup, I'd go for a bigger ork made of green swirling electro-energy.
Take a look at the spell effects in Warhammer Total War and also the Warcraft movie.
As to worky bitz I'd keep those ethereal too (possibly in an orange resin) unless the entity swirls up scrap from the battlefield and starts to combobulate claws/gunz or whatever out of them. A green resin tornado effect picking up scrap and attaching it to the 'ork' could be cool a la Nagash's swirly bits.

Holy crap, I love that idea. I could just imagine it's arm getting blown off and then reforming into a power klaw. I'm keeping that one in my memory bank for later!

This is kind of hard to explain, but the portal is going to be an infinity mirror with Led's swirling around and texture on the edges made from acrylic gel that dries transparent. the whole thing is going to be filled with clear resin so I can have stuff floating around inside, but there will be a separate layer of resin in front of the portal (directly on top of the mirror). The emerging ork will be partially inside inside of that outer layer of resin with the parts outside of it being fully formed, while the parts inside of the resin will be swirling around as if it's body is still being put together, so really, I just need to sculpt half an ork. Only trouble now is figuring out how to cast more complex pieces like arms and the head so I can make it clear and allow the light to show through. Definitely going to go with the orange light though, I think that would be a nice compliment to the green lights in the portal.

The casting process for the complex bits should be the same as casting anything else. There's really very little difference other than better quality control re:bubbles between clear and opaque resin.

Ha, I was going to link this too- definitely one of my all time favorite conversions.

With the new edition, it should be easy to have your effigy count as a Deff Dread- the line between vehicles and MCs appears to be more or less semantics now. You could make a fluffy list of big "warp ork" walkers surrounded by weirdboyz, would be very cool.

There is also the idea that Gork and Mork are based off of Khorne and Nurgle.
Khorne because they love killing.
Nurgle because they are a fungus and spread like the great pestilence that they are.

One is cunning and killy and the other is killy and cunning, lol.

Maybe it could be like a daemon prince but green, and with an ork nob head, and a big choppa and shoota ?

Sorry got distracted from responding back, but man, you guys are presenting some great ideas.

@Shogun - I'm definitely liking that model but it looks like it's metal? Might be tough to work with but i'd be up for the challenge.

@Daisy - I didnt think about running them as dreads. This particular model was going to be for display only since it will be built into the portal but it looks like i'll have to make some more casts so I can make more!

@Maddok - Could be cool to make two seperate versions to represent both gods. I'm liking it!

@GreatOverlord - I've made a daemon prince ork (he's somewhere in my gallery if you want to check it out) and while they are definitely big, I'm wanting this guy to be towering, but hopefully still realistic and not comical.

To make sure it still looks like an oversize Ork with a touch of daemon and not a big daemon with a touch of ork I would keep it simple. Just use a bare green chest with some spikes/horns sticking out and a led glow pouring thru the cracks. Give it a normal ork trousers, belt + big boots and oversize powerclaw and or choppa/slugga.

I think the Bloodthirster's body could work for this. Reposition the legs and use greenstuff to make the legs and boots.

If you want some tips with the resin casting, just let me know. I got some experience:

Those casts look great! I'll definitely have to hit you up for some tips. I really like the bloodthirsters, but to keep the cost down, I wound up going with this Hulk figure on Ebay.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Marvel-Avengers-Super-Hero-Incredible-Hulk-Action-Figure-Toy-Doll-Collection-/262650629771?

Looks pretty pose-able so I should be able to posture him like an Ork, sculpt a new head, and chop down the legs to make the proportions work a little better. After I get the gaps filled and add some detail, I think I'll be able to make the cast.

Well. Looks like im just waiting on my hulk figure (which may have been shipped to the wrong address) so ive started on the portal. Doesnt look like much now but I think it will come together in the end.

The plan going forward is to repeat the inner gooey pattern on multiple layers of clear resin. Im using a gel that dries transparent with a satin finish to give a cool kind of etherial look. After that ill throw on another mirror, light it up with some leds and see how it looks. This stuff takes a while to dry so it will be a daily effort to keep the project moving along.

On another note, since im filling this thing with resin, it feels like an opportunity to add in kind of floating debree like little black beads or glitter around the edges. Not really sure yet but id be down for any suggestions.
