Surprised there has been no thread about this considering how popular it was/is. Outside of the normal controller being a bit wonky to use the game is pretty good. There are an obscene amount of options for ways to play the game as well as gear and customization options. That is also a bit of the problem though as getting something you want or need is entirely random with really crappy odds considering the sheer variety to pull from (items, shaders, skins, hero cards). There is a lot to do even without playing against other players. I used to be fairly hardcore about fighting games but I just don't like I used to so I haven't done any online matches yet as my ego is to fragile to withstand such terror, which makes the 3 v 3 AI battles much more comforting to me. My AI team has a really bad W/L record though.

Really liked the story mode--Netherrealm do the best stories in fighting games, and I think this was the best one so far. Considering it's just "provide excuses for characters to fight", it's got an unexpectedly deep plot and character development going on.

"The 75mm gun is firing. The 37mm gun is firing, but is traversed round the wrong way. The Browning is jammed. I am saying "Driver, advance." and the driver, who can't hear me, is reversing. And as I look over the top of the turret and see twelve enemy tanks fifty yards away, someone hands me a cheese sandwich."

Been playing solidly pretty much all day, enjoying the hell out of it. It's pretty much a straight upgrade of the first game in most areas; graphics and animations are way better, the story is superb (and I eagerly await the accompanying comics, though I've still got a few volumes of the first 5 years to get through), the Gear system is really cool and all in all, it's just superb.

The new characters have a lot to offer too, I've been having great fun and success with Supergirl, Blue Beetle, Black Canary and Doctor Fate. Beetle hits like a truck with his blades out, and SG is just so damn fast and mobile. I'm also pleased to see that my old favourites (Green Lantern, Superman) haven't changed too much, so they're nice and familiar to play.

The only minor complaint I have is the relative lack of variety in maps, especially with most only having 2 stages rather than the 3 that was standard on the last game. Possibly done to stop people just relying on Stage Transitions to do a lot of damage, as I also notice they've been toned down a fair bit as well.

All in all, a very worthy successor, I can see this one staying in the Xbox disk tray for quite some time...

The AI seems a bit off sometimes, which is annoying. Several times I would get an opponent down one and a half bars then suddenly they are untouchable combo monsters that can't be beaten and the fight is over. I still like and recommend it but that is frustrating when it happens.

I've not encountered that myself, but to be fair my experience with the AI has been mostly on the story at normal difficulty, so maybe there the game isn't having to 'cheat' to simulate difficulty.

Speaking of the story, finished it last night and the third act especially was just amazing, some genuinely moving scenes towards the end, and a perfect resolution for how this version of the DC universe works!

Spoiler:

When Bats and Supes teamed up on Brainiac's ship and it was just like old times, I dared to hope they'd both finally gotten over themselves, but this is the Injustice universe, so of course all it takes is the right push at the right time and the war is back on...
