From what I understand, the Night Lords always paint up their helmets to be scary in some way or another to strike fear into their enemies. I'm curious to know what they paint on their helmets besides the mainstream skull face, because that's the only thing I really see. If you guys could provide some ideas from the fluff, some Night Lords models you've seen before, or your own ideas, that'd be great.

Just skulls with fanged teeth.
Check out the FW terror squad upgrades if you need a visual clue.

Please note, for those of you who play Chaos Daemons as a faction the term "Daemon" is potentially offensive. Instead, please play codex "Chaos: Mortally Challenged". Thank you. |

I think it was so that, in the dead of night, when someone sees the night lords coming all they would see is floating skulls with bright red eyes, pretty scary for the average Joe on the battle field.

I know I am in the minority here, but i absolutely adore the cartoony bat wing helms that GW made alot more than the FW ones.the Night Lord Hero model with the power fist and combi-flamer has been my all time favorite model for years now, and still going. I'm just glad he may actually be viable (as a Champion) in 8th edition now!

I remember in the 2nd Punic Wars there was a Roman general who was infamous for having the decapitated head of a Gallic Warrior mounted on his helmet.
I think that's a good way of representing NL helmet, have it adorned with the head of their best kill.

Unless their best kill was a Zoanthrope!
Maybe paint it as a flayed skull ? Lines of red for muscles and sinew with a gloss coat?

Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K
