I got opening bids this past week on Calth Mark IVs and Starter Stormcast. I've got Prospero Custodes too... so I'm hoping just one box of Primaris Marines gives me enough bits to kit bash out 15-20 NuMarines. Might have to eBay some of the improved bolters. I'm hoping in 8th we just have 3 variants at most of the Mark Xs: Tactical, Assault, Command/Honour.

if I was gonna take a guess we'll have 3 varients minimum, the intercessor squads (a tatc marine analogue) an assault Marine Analogue, and a devestator analogue that cn equip heavy or special weapons.

Wow that comparison picture really put the scale of even the older models into perspective. I really had no idea it changed that much, I knew the custodies were bigger, I feel kinda dumb I haven't even put mine next to any of my marines...

It shows that there was no proportional change. They are simply scaled up.

Actually no. The last two ones show how the legs and the torso are bigger but the pauldrons and helmet are all of the same size. They aren't just bigger, they are better proportionated.
Also this mean that the pauldrons and helmets of conversions kit are still valid.

which IIRC GW said when Primaris Marines where introduced. which was proably a good move as there is a huuuge market for shoulder pads and helmets, I mean just look on forge world.

with the announcement of the new starter etc we've gotten a buncha new info on Primaris Marines. this is an attempt to put what we know thus far in one place.

1st: we know three differant squad types,
A Tatical varient called the Intercessor Squad.

A varient with 5 plasma rifles called the Hellblaster squad described as a fire support unit.

And a jump pack equipped Interceptor Squad (hey Gulliman, we have a copyright lawyer from the Grey Knights on line two) with two guns described as "assault bolters" described as having "short range fury"

In addition we have 3 characters the "inspiring Primaris Leuitenant" that can eaither have a pwoer sword, or a "auto bolt rifle"

(looks like we've found our original leaked image)

the Banner Carrying Ancients (the name ancient makes me suspect these are gonna be upgraded old Marines)

and finally the Primaris Captain in Gravis Armor. (a new type of armor? could this be the inevitable Primaris Terminator analogue?) also am I nuts or does he seem to be wearing a psykic hood?

The comparison between new Primaris Marines and how Legion Squads were equipped continues with that "Hellblaster" Support squad.

from the POV of a "is an all primaris army possiable" I'm wondering about a lascannon squad down the road. that said the hellblaster plasma rifles are clearly a new type of gun so they might be comparable in power output to lascanons we'll have to see. the weaponry and performance of the ionterceptor and hellblaster squads are gonna be really important in asking the question "would all Primaris aries work?"

Well one thing is sure. Either numarines are not true scale marines or custodes are now the undersized ones! They should tower over marines.

well apparently I recall hearing leaked somewhere that Primaris Marines use primarch and custodes genetic information to suepr charge Marines. so their being the same size as custodes might make perfect sense.

The two most common methods for producing 'true-scale' marines involve either extending the legs (and the arms to a lesser extent) with plasticard or other materials, or using terminator parts and modifying them to look more like vanilla power armour.

Those last two images work well as true-scale marine mockups using the existing tactical and tartaros terminator pictures present in the center of the image.

Yeah but point being either these cannot really be used to make true scale marines rather than use them for these uber marines(as I have read some people planning to use) or you end up in situation where you would then need to convert true scale custodes!

hard to tell eyes being as small on a mini as they sometimes are. I'd not read too much into it until tthe codex gives us info otherwise best to assume simply artisitc choice

It's what happens when Ad Mech tries to invent something new or recreate something the Emps did 10s of thousands of years ago.

They end up with metal grafted under and over their skin and other weird wonky gak.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

You can clearly see on the Lieutenant (this guy). His eyes are completely jet black. Go on, zoom in and you can see clear as day. Now this would be fine on a Raven Guard, but an UM? Hmmm....

considering the Gravis armor looks pretty bulky, and literally means 'heavy' and 'cumbersome' in latin is pretty telling of its similarities to Termi armor.

Seeing more and more of these guys makes me want to start an army of them, thankfully they should be cheap on ebay after the starter set drops
