Hello,

I working up ideas for a Skitarii kill team to play in my local leagues. Both leagues are pretty laid back, everyone plays to win, but we don't get as much of the insane cheesing you sometimes see in 40K games. I wanted to make an effective list that'd be fun to play, but can still be viable. Our meta is pretty diverse too so I'm expecting to see a bunch of different armies. The terrain is also going to shift around between matches so somtimes it might be thick, other times it might be thin.

I came up with a few ideas I was thinking of trying out.

Specialist Focused

190- Ranger Alpha w/ Omnispex

115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle

175- Specialist with Plasma Caliver
280 – Specialist with Arquebus

This list would bring a specialist with a plasma caliver and one with the arquebus. From what I understand the Arc Rifle is a bit meh, but I could be wrong. Meanwhile the Ranger Squad would move with the Alpha who could call out target for the group with the Omnispex.

Power Rangers

190- Ranger Alpha w/ Omnispex

115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle

This list seeks to maximize the number of rangers out on the field at the start with Galvanic Rifles. Like the previous list, the Alpha acts as a point man with the Omnispex. The idea seems solid, but I was unsure about not taking specialists, especially since the Skitarii seem to have that as their focus, and the lack of heavy weapons might be a bummer.

Highway to the Danger Zone

220 – Ranger Alpha with Omnispex

115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle

100 – Flesh Forged with Galvanic Rifle

165- Specialist with Plasma Caliver
165- Specialist with Plasma Caliver

Same combo of the rangers with the Alpha (with a fleshforged thrown in to bring an extra gun and stay in points). This list brings two specialists with plasma. This runs a major risk of self bottling with a weapons explosion, but the plasma brings a lot of heavy fire power to the mix.

Radium Mixer

210- Ranger alpha with Omnispex and Radium Pistol

115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle
115 – Ranger w/Galvanic Rifle

100- Fleshforged w/Radium Carbine
100- Fleshforged w/Radium Carbine
100- Fleshforged w/Radium Carbine

145- Specialist with Arc Rifle and Photo-Vison

This list seeks to bring a balance of longer ranged shooters with the rangers and shorter ranged meatshields with the Fleshforged. The Alpha carries a upgraded pistol to give him some better combat capabilities and the Arc Rifle gets the upgrade that can help negate cover.

These were the ideas I was thinking of. Has anyone run something similar or have any critique for the lists? I'd also love to hear ideas if anyone has any! Always happy to try new stuff!

Giving the Alphas the Omnispex is definitely the right way to go makes your spotter harder to remove.

The omnispex is great and all, he definitely gets the squad dishing out pain when they move together, but keeping in mind that to use it you cannot move or shoot with that fighter, so the squad's movement is going to be slowed down a little.
For this reason I find the Skitarii shine when played defensively, setting up killboxes and forcing the enemy to enter it.

Overall Galvanic Rifles are the better pick over Radium Carbines, in most cases you will be fighting the enemy in more than 15" range, so your guys will be hitting much better with them than radiums. And the -mod is going to make them much more likely to drop targets.

Another idea to consider is hkeeping an omnispex guy with the Arquebus, that rifle hits like a truck and maximising it's hit chances is never bad.

I fielded an arc rifle in my games and I found that it's a pretty subpar weapon even against tau with a 5+ save, it consistantly failed to impress. I think it would do well against weak melee teams like orks or cultists, but the lack of ap makes it leave much to be desired.

Can't speak for the Caliver, picked the arc over it. Seems decent on paper, but your guys might get picked off before getting in range.
