Hey everyone. So I've been painting away on my Guard army this past year and thought it was time for an update on the entire army. You can see last years post here, https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/691103.page

I'm not going to list out all the units in the army, since it's quite extensive. But I spent most of the past year painting specialist units. Next up is the Summer of Super Heavies. Then we'll see what 8th edition has in store and what units I need more of (crossing my fingers that Rough Riders actually become worth buying)!

And for those of you with an eagle eye, you'll notice a couple big models in the back. Those guys were painted by Brandon over at GMM Studios. More images of those guys and all their detail can be found here, https://www.facebook.com/GMMStudios/photos/a.595918033934239.1073741943.175939875932059/595918160600893/?type=3&theater . If you're looking to get something commissioned (and aren't in a rush), then I highly recommend GMM Studios. I just told Brandon, "Hey, I want some titans, but you know, painted like the Sistine Chapel" and he exceeded my expectations. Plus the man has the patience of a saint. I honestly can't say enough good things about Brandon, GMM, and the work he did on the titans.

But enough about all that, onto the army!

Spoiler:

Heroes of the Guard. Creed - MIA. Al'Rahem - MIA. And Marbo - MIA, but there have been recent unconfirmed sightings.

I am pretty sure in my 28 years in this hobby, this is the largest IG collection I've ever seen. Then, there is the Warlord Titan that has painted murals....damn. That is more like a piece of art than a miniature.

Thank you for sharing the coolest IG collection ever.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Awesome collection! Made me chuckle that you're using gretchin as servitors to save money considering how much you must have spent on all this!

I saw that warlord on IG and thought that whoever is getting this may have the most detailed model ever painted, absolute best Guard army I've ever seen.

I think you need a table diorama so you could display them in a military parade!

Hahaha, fair point. But I was able to buy a whole other infantry squad with the money saved! Plus, it was nice to finally paint something that wasn't completely grey.

I've probably been working on the army for about 5 years now. I estimate I've only got a year or two before I think it will be complete!
And more photos of the Titans can be found here, https://www.facebook.com/GMMStudios/photos/a.595918033934239.1073741943.175939875932059/595918160600893/?type=3&theater

But where's the fun in that?

 TheLumberJack wrote:

Depending on how you want to count certain units, it's about 512 infantry models, 89 vehicles, and 2 titans. So about 603 models total.

little-killer wrote:

Asides from the titans, everything has been painted by me, with no airbrushing. It's been a labor of love.

 doomdreamer wrote:

I've thought about it. Do a nice little melting snow military base to go along with how the army is based. But the army takes up a 4'x6' table. I barely have enough space to store the army, let alone find storage for a diorama of that size.

 Necros wrote:

I thought about it. But 1. Not sure if my photography skills are up to GW standards. 2. Unless GW reaches out to me, I want to wait until the army is 100% done before I send it in. Should only be another year or two.

Outstanding, in both quality and scope. You are one dedicated individual. If you feel your photography skills won't do it justice, you should hire a professional photographer to capture it once it's done, because that is worth it.
