Hi all!

I'm starting a Savlar Chem Dogs army, having been out of the game since early 6th edition. I have a few questions about modelling.

1. I've ordered some heads from Pig Iron Productions to replicate the Chem Dogs' gas masks. What other things should I take into account when modelling their infantry? This question goes for anything that can't be done with painting. I'm thinking of digging into my bitz box and giving out pieces from other kits to represent the Chem Dogs looting all the things.
Here are the pictures of the heads in case it matters:

2. What exactly is Savlar like? I know it's a poisonous world only valued for the chemical deposits on its moons. But what's the rest of it like? Is there foliage, or is it a desolate rock with a poisonous, acidic atmosphere similar to Venus? This is important since I'd like to know how I should plan on painting the camo patterns on their tanks.

Right now the only models I have are the ones that come in the Start Collecting box, they're unassembled at the moment because at the very least I need to wait for the head swaps to come in.
All input is appreciated.

Thanks,
- ripjaw

Consider taking a look at the chaos cultists and genestealer cult models. Clip off the heretical paraphernalia and replace any autoguns with lasguns and you have pretty good looking Chem Dogs.

Gathering the Informations.

Realistically, you would have been better off using the Chaos Cultists and Genestealer Cultists.

The Savlar weren't really well "uniformed". They were effectively underhive scum hopped up on combat drugs and pointed vaguely at the enemy's direction.

Well I guess it's a good thing I didn't buy more cadians That said many of the pics I've seen involve Cadian models as bases since the very few artist renditions of the chem dogs depict them wearing chest plates. Here's an example of what I mean.

But frankly I'm likely going to try all of the above. I'm interested in taking the Genestealer Cult Neophytes and filing off their forehead growths and cult symbols.

Also it something just came to me: Does anyone know any imperial swear words that aren't actual swear words? I figure a Penal unit would probably not be above writing some profane statements on their tanks.

EDIT: I also have the question of achieving a roughly uniform appearance, because just grouping slightly modified Chaos Cultists, Genestealer Neophytes and headswapped Cadians would look so haphazard that it would look bad.

Thanks again for all the advice,
