So my question is simply this..

Are we still able to DL the rules for free and such?
Or is it all going to be you need to buy the books?

Also will FW be doing a release of everything day 1 or do we need to wait for the book releases for us Xenos players?

Forgeworld will be releasing Space Marine and Chaos Space Marine rules on day one. The so-called "plebian factions" have to wait a month for their rules.

The twelve page "core rules" will be free to download the 17th. If you want points and figure stats it seems like you will need to buy some books.

I knew I would have to pay for points, but I was certain the base stats without points would be free.

The stats will continue (in all likelihood) to be in the box with the models, so why only give them out for free for new players while not giving the same treatment to current players.

People have been hyper why aren't worried about competitive play because they can spend more money on models (especially with the new deathguard and primaris marines) but now they have to hold that money back for books.

I can only guess games workshop make more money from minis than it does book sales...

A fortnight, actually; release date is June the 17th, Forge World say the other books will be out by the end of the month.

From the very beginning (the first live chat) they said that you could buy books of datasheets or whatever they're calling them.

if it is like AOS you might get scroll equivalents to download with the base cost, though it would not be thee competitive rules. essentially think 8 points for a tac squad, can take 1 heavy or special weapon and sarg gets a few options. no upgrade costs just enough to get a narrative or pickup game going with power levels in the same ballpark.
