Hey there! Was basically wondering if anyone has used 40k assassins in 30k, and if so if they modified the rules for their use? Also wanted to know how everyone's feeling on using them in 30k was? They look so awesome but I only have 30k armies now so I can't really ever see me getting to use them.

“Victory is not an abstract concept, it is the equation that sits at the heart of strategy. Victory is the will to expend lives and munitions in attack, overmatching the defenders’reserves of manpower and ordnance. As long as my Iron Warriors are willing to pay any price in pursuit of victory, we shall never be defeated.” - The Primarch Perturabo, Master of the Iron Warriors

In friendly games I couldn't see no reason why you couldn't have them in the list. It'd be very fluffy in a Talons of the Emperor list or Alpha Legion...

Maybe pay a 10% surcharge, as everything in 30k seems to be a bit more expensive than 40k.

I have played in a event where Assassins have been used. I am actually playing in one this weekend. Assassins are usually restricted to 1 and they take up an Elite slot.

30k:
Solar Auxilia: 3,500+
Space Wolves: 1,000+
40k:
Vostroyans: 2,000+
Deathwatch: Points Unknown.

Shouldn't have much trouble fitting them in... I recommend the Vindicare.

Holy Terra.

They most definitely existed. If I remember correctly, the assassin temples predated the Emperor and had been on terra for thousands of years before the Crusade started. Most "typical" terran weapons (like the needle pistol and possibly even the bolter) are assassin inventions. So yeah, use them, but you might want to add a small amount of points and possibly make it a LoW.

They exist but the emperor forbade their use he didn't want the war fought in the shadows.

Yep there is even a book about them, Nemesis, and yep you can use them as allies with permission, just dont try to drop one into a game without clearing it, as they dont have 30k rules yet, treat them as heralds of the emperor or warmaster on the allies chart, but have them as elite choices 0-1

I'm not sure that he forbade their use generally, wasn't he being specific to Horus? After all, he sent one after Curze...

Was one basically without naming so.

Psyker black hole, strips powers.
Atheletic, and human + combat ability
Knows space marine weak points.

Works for a hunter of fugitives... (in any other case inquisition for sure but not exist yet. )

Yeah. It's a assassin.

Not sure if he did, but the one that killed Curze was sent after he "died".

Didn't Curze also just let it kill him? Like out of remorse or something...

I'd have to find the book but I'm fairly sure it was a general no to using assassins.

Okay so I found my old copy it was more that they couldn't be used in secret anymore they have to be governed and accounted for.

So yeah seems loyalists could use them if your opponents cool with it provided they were near Terra, smurfs dark angels and wolves would however not have access to them as the temples are not accessible.

Yeah that's the story hobojesus was referring to. At the end the Emp tells him not to do it again.
