Set in Montana, I guess the enemies will some kind of crazy religious cultists?

I'm stoked, I enjoyed the heck out of Far Cry 4.

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

I will miss the random death by Rhino and tiger but welcome the change of scenery, hopefully this will be fun

From what I've been seeing, it's not "religious crazies" but rather a militia group.

Doesn't preclude the religious crazy angle(hello Branch Davidians!), but man. Kinda surprised they went this route.

Will be interesting to see where this one goes, not to mention refreshing to shoot donkey-cave rednecks instead of the usual foreign people while climbing radio towers and doing errands for the locals all the time.

Oh there will be radio towers and finding x amount of methampethamin shards and moonshine instead of huntig Tigers and Honney badgers this time

I'm sure there will be plenty of random death by bears and wolves.

Or by horny hillbilly! I'm kinda hoping they're going for a Deliverance feel with this one, so plenty of "BOY" thrown into sentences along with "squeal like a pig" and "I want you to meet my sister and wife", only for there to be one person standing there.

It'll also be interesting to see what kind of protagonist we'll be having this time around. Obviously a dude, as about the only Ubisoft games with female protagonists are those open world Tom Clancy games as far as I can remember. I just hope it's not another spoiled brat like in FC3, man I hated Jason Brody.

Hmm, or maybe we should be more worried about the antagonist? Vaas was awesome, as was Mihn, who thankfully ruled throughout the entire game. Calling it now, the main antagonist is probably a reverend of some type.

If I were to hazard a guess, I'd say three protagonists. Or these are the main quest vendors.

You know? I'm not even surprised the resistance, a militia opposing the local militia., can get impromptu their hands into a pack of military grade weaponry like those chainguns.

It's America, nuff said.

Though I'm pretty sure this game will receive its share of flak for being too soon with the militia angle.

Nice, should be good. Looks great.

I don't expect it to get flak for being too soon with the militia angle, I expect it to catch flak because "they're makin' fun of Christians!".

If someone can't see the difference between your average American Christian and the violent death cultists the antagonists in this game seem to be, then maybe they aren't mature enough to play a rated M game.

Also, the black preacher (who I hope if you get to play as him gets called "BOY" a lot, just to make shooting them all the more satisfying) is taking the fight to them. War of faith y'all!

This video talks about the game a bit more. The three characters seen in the videos you kindly linked are NPCs, likely quest givers. The PC in this one is not nailed down, like Ajay or Brody, but you can choose your appearance like in The Division.

I really hope that CIA jerk Whillis is in it so after 2 characters later we can finally put a bullet between his eyes! I agree with you I hated Brody was dumb and spoilt, on the other hand Ajay in FC4 was a bit no existent but at least that didn't get on my nerves. Mihn was a really likeable antagonist who played fair. We will have to wait and see what people are the bad guys in this new one. To be honest I wasn't expecting it to be set in the USA, but hopefully it will be good. I want there to be a Sheriff like Buford T Justice or J W Pepper, would be good if your character was like Clint Eastwood as Dirty Harry or Sheriff Longmire. My only regret is that the setting means the likelihood of random Honey Badger attacks are that bit rarer ( I think ).

Hopefully, this game will be the final nail in the coffin of Ubisoft. I can already tell that this one isn't going to do well, and that's not counting the bugs, glitches, freeze-ups, graphical flaws, crap graphics, and other stuff that Ubisoft loves so much.

I played FC4 through on my PS4, something like 10% short of the Platinum trophy. Not one bug or freeze, pretty gorgeous graphics too.

If I had a complaint* it's that the kill, climb, collect, go to next area, repeat, mechanic gets a little samey after a while.

*which I don't, not really.

I was playing Farcry: Primal a few weeks ago, wondering when a more modern one would drop again.

Its not everyone's cup of tea, and I get the complaints of repetition, but I always find this franchise entertaining. Love exploring and taking camps with nothing but stealth.

My main complaint is all the dream/drug sequences that are slow as hell to playthrough, and completely ruin pacing for me.

This is something of a guilty pleasure of mine, Ioved the series ever since the second instalment and while I have skipped Primal, I am so looking forward to this one.

Or someone who left the town and joined the military, then comes back to see the town changed. Maybe both!

You are a deputy sheriff, the game opens with you going to arrest the cult leader, then gak hits the fan.

Presumably there is some reason you can't just call in the National Guard or whoever.

Because pulling in the NG would make the game over far to quickly.

Maybe that will be their 'sit and wait for him to come back' ending.

I dont, FC3 had a great character arc with brody. He started out as a nobody, unlucky and just horrible, but as the game went on, he became more and more badass.
Please though Ubisoft. Dont make this the A-Typical ubisoft sandbox, where there is really not story and its just "Liberate the District"

Perfectly reasonable explanation,
In some parts of america, the government just doesnt give a gak and lets it rot.

I don't imagine deputy sheriffs have the power to call in the guard. Nor would a governor listen if they did so. Imagine how far you'd get if you called your governor and told him your town was overrun by a violent death cult.

Or the NG is in on it, and they become the enemy of the latter 3rd of the game! Like that white dude and his mercenary army on the second island was in Farcry 3.

If only to add tanks and legit attack helicopters, instead of the standard technicals and transport helos of the previous games.
