'Ello, this blog will cover scenery, Inquisimunda, 40k and whatever else distracts me.

Here is the start of a needlessly baroque old water pump.

I'm trying out a few new techniques and materials for this, so expect a few oddities!

I had the flash of inspiration to mould rubber stamps to cast some nice greenstuff details.

A little filling, filing and added a few details.

bowl for catching the water

A pump handle that I'm way too proud of.

Shaping some sprue for making candles

Putting it all together with more cast details, a beastmans head for the water to pour out of and a few pieces cannibalised from pound shop jewellery.

And the first of the paint!

Coming up next, more paint, a chuff ton of weathering, and a servitor to man the pump.

When taking your photos, angle your light source away from your models. The camera will use the light and your pieces won't be bathed in shadow.

A few more awful pics for your viewing pleasure. I've been messing around with my lamp a bit, but I'll be using my light box for the finished pics.

I've added some monopose empire spearmen as statues, did some more work on the sprue candles, and followed up with a drry brush of rakath flesh and a rather heaving series of washes and inks.

I also pretty much finished the servitor who mans the pump, but the damn camera refused to focus on the bugger.

A bit of a skip forward, but here' s the finished water pump.

And a crappy top view

Overall, I'm really please with how this came out, particularly since it was the first time using some of the materials. The water in particular is something I've wanted to try out for ages, and the candle made from sprue bits and PVA glue are far more effective than they have any right to be.

Paint wise, I used the recipe from a white dwarf article about this board at Warhammer World https://20889-presscdn-pagely.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/The-Ruins-of-DrasShiel-2-edited-for-web.jpg then covered it in ink and many, many washes.
The servitor was also my first time painting checkers, and good god, was it annoying.
