Information on the GSC faction focus can be found here:

https://www.warhammer-community.com/2017/05/27/warhammer-40000-faction-focus-genestealer-cults/

Details are:
-still have Cult Ambush, rolling on a D6
-results range from coming on a table edge, to setting up 9" away from enemy units, but with the ability to move, shoot, and charge
-stats up for Aberrants
-Patriarch bestows ignoring morale on nearby units
-all characters in the army can avoid taking a wound by sacrificing a nearby model on a 4+
-new psychic power: mass hypnosis, which disables overwatch, makes an enemy strike last, even if they charged, and they get -1 to hit in combat
-You can now ally with Astra Militarum, in addition to Tyrannids, and you can take 1 AM detachment for every GSC detachment in a Battle Forged Army
-Clearance Incinerators on Goliath Rockgrinders hit D6 at 12". Embarked units can also benefit from Demolition Charges, which are 6", D6 shots, S8, AP -3, D3 damage. Drilldozer is 6+D3 S8 attacks, AP -2, D3 damage

If GSC has the Imperium Faction Keyword it could mean Cult Knights. Which would make sense since there is that one knight that is actually descended from a Cult infected blood line.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I doubt that. If anything they would have the astra militarum keyword then. Which is also doubtful. I understood it to be more of a faction rule thing where you get to treat one astra militarum detachments as friendly or whatever the equivalent would be.
Not sure how this would be any differnt than jsut taking an astra militarum detachment. Unless you normally need an entire army of a a certain faction keyword to count as a faction army. In which case they would treat astra militarum as an exception to that rule.

I'm not a fan of playing against GSC. Maybe the whole "not being locked in combat" anymore will make it palatable to play against them.

Ability to form their army using both their own faction, Tyranids and Astra Militarum, too.

You can take one Astra Militarum Detachment for each Genestealer Cults Detachment in your Battle-forged army.

They each need to be entirely comprised of units with their respective keyword

Since it says 'Respective' Keyword, It probably just means that it HAS to be GSC Keyword in the GSC section. It HAS to be IG Keyword in the IG Section.

If you ALSO want to include Tyranids in the main army, they don't count as one of the GSC Detachments.

6+ = 6/36 | Reroll 1s = 7/36 | Reroll Misses = 11/36 ||||||| 5+ = 12/36 | Reroll 1s 14/36 | Reroll Misses = 20/36 ||||||| 4+ = 18/36 | Reroll 1s 21/36 | Reroll Misses = 27/36
3+ = 24/36 | Reroll 1s 28/36 | Reroll Misses = 32/36 ||||||| 2+ = 30/36 | Reroll 1s 35/36 ||||||| Highest of 2d6 = 4.47

Kind of wish we would have been able to get even one single comment related to genestealer cult replied to, you know since that was the faction focus. But instead it was just spammed per the usual by necron player tears of "YOU MUST HAVE REMOVED NECRONS FROM THE GAME SINCE THIS ARTICLE WASN"T ABOUT US!" and those are the only ones that got replied to.

anyway....to the topic.

They said you can now take one imperial guard detachment per genestealer cult detachment, but that would mean in order for us to take even a single leman russ tank we'd have to take a heavy detachment (the smallest detachment with a heavy slot) which has a min of a company command squad and 3 tanks. And then to take walkers we'd have to take a fast attack detachment (again the smallest way so far seen to get that slot) which again has a min requirement of a company command squad and 3 units. All based on if those leaked pictures of the detachments are true of course.

I'm hoping those two units at least remain in the genestealer codex. I can see needing to take a real IG detachment for things like baslisks and whatnot, but it's going to suck if I need to have a bunch of taxes to take the leman russ I can currently take as part of the army.

the 2nd thing that stood out was no mention of return to shadows, that in and of itself isn't much though odd considering it's what makes the GSC work, but also with how so far all reserve rules have had a very big feel of them wanting to do away with going back and forth into and out of reserve, and limiting reserves usage in general. Obviously we need to see more to really know, but that's how the wording came across.

It's true we kind of lose out in that we can't just take the russes or sents as just part of the army, but we win in that we have access to all of IG now with very few strings attached. UIt'd be ncie if they were effected by our hero's abilities, but i doubt it.

Or you could just suck it up, take the three min troops for the basic detachment and get both heavy and fast slots at the same time. It's not like three infantry squads are expensive (or useless). Then you can have your commisar, tanks, and sentinels.

Once we have points to play with we can start getting granular about the cost of some of these things. Right now we're just whistling in the dark...

He knows that I know and you know that he actually doesn't know the rules at all.

It also doesn't necessarily mean that GSC wont get Leman Russ themselves..

But it does mean I can use 3 Valkyries/Vandettas as a single detachment with my GSC

honestly I'm hoping for space Marines, it seems odd they've not given us much about them. makes me wonder if there are some new suprises they don't wanna unveil just yet (or conversly they figure out wqe've got a pretty clear idea of how Marines will work)

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I imagine they haven't done a faction focus on marines because we keep getting little tid bits about marines anyway. Not only is every weapon or whatever article using marine info as an example but the primaris stuff is all marines.

that'd be my guess too, but it'd still be nice to see something.
