So, like the title says, I'm in a bit of a bind. Before 8th edition was announced I purchased a Betrayal at Calth set, but now that I know what's coming in 8th, I'm not quite sure what to do with it. I was going to make it all into Ultramarines, but I really like the Death Guard models, and I don't think the Primaris Marines would mesh too well with the contents of the BaC box. But on the other hand, I don't think turning the marines into Death Guard CSMs would mesh too well with the new DG models, since they look so different when compared to most older GW models. Plus, to my understanding, more Nurgle models are on the way.
TLDR; I'd like to get the 8th edition box set, but I'm not sure what to do with my Betrayal at Calth box set so it can combine with one of the armies of the 8th edition set.
Your opinions on the matter are very much appreciated!

Ultrnarine. And here's why.
The heresey armour has a much cleaner look to to it that 40k models.
They may gel alright with a primus force visually. Also . They are a tad bigger than regular marines as not quite in silly sqauting poses.
The terminators are nice n beafy and may make apaceptable primus ones, and just look far cooler than regular anyway!
Mk3 is slightly taller by a fraction but I think they may work well as ultras.

Ultramarines are likely easier, but you can always do some very light converting and very nasty paintjobs to represent death guard at varied stages of infection/mutation/ascension. I would personally go that route, buffed by more nurgle-esque newer models.

I voted Ultramarines, the armor LOOKS Ultramarinesquew, especially the sergents with the head creasts etc. you can just paint and go. death guard I think you'd have to do a LOT of converting,
I mean if it was burning of prosperio It'd be a harder choice, as death guard uses a lot of MK 3, but for MK 4 plate? definatly ultras

Well, if you convert everything in the Betrayal at Calth box into Ultramarines and add the Primaris stuff from the new starter, you should have a good start to an Ultramarines army.

3 tatical squads.1 captain, 1 chaplain 1 contemptator dreadnought, 1 terminator squad, 2 intercessor squads, a hellblast squad and a inceptor squad, that's a pretty fair sized army there.

Yeah. That's fair and visually they will combine alright as HH armour is not bedecked in hundreds of eagles, purity seals and such.
Ps, the missile launcher, assemble as instructed, catapracti captain to without much deviation.
They seem designed to assemble one way only. You can do it but it takes several times as long if you decide to go the other way trying to force in parts.

I voted DG - uses the marine in your BoC as traitor marines, paint them up as you like and run them as chaos marines or as loyalist marines using both halves of the new 8th box to set up two forces sharing the stock marines between them. So you could split them in half and collect two armies or just create a chapter that is split with some having ventured into the warp and having been corrupted fight for nurgle sometimes and another half kept uncorrupted that fight for the emperor sometimes. Now just collect up the vehicles that you like and model them accordingly too.

Go for Ultramarines. There's less converting needed and you can use them as the core of both a 40k(mixed with Primaris or not) and a 30k force.
Also burn the "Contemptor" and get a proper one from FW

The whole point of Chaos is that they are not uniform but instead kinda... Chaotic. So if you have some old style marines converted to Death Guard, you can run them alongside the new ones.
Also there is the point that many parts of the legions have broken away and created mixed Warbands, thus giving you even more reason to have the old with new.

Other: I think you should decidewich army exites you the most. A bit of kit bashing the 2 sets and you should manage the look (primaris have the same size helmets/shoulderpads).

Just use the two BaC forces exclusively for the BaC boardgame. In this case there will be no aesthetic problems concerning the mixing of units with the new DG or Uber-Marines.

Honestly, I say you go for Ultramarines.
Death Guard has always been a mk 3 armour legion for me, mk 4 doesn't fit them as well imo. Ultramarines with mk 4 look just fine, although I am definitely more use in seeing them with mk 8.
