Hi guys i'm new with just one post before in the presentation thread so this really is my first post with actual content . I painted a little when i was a kid but ended spending years not really having the time or the willing to start painting again and like a month from now i decided to give it a try again . Being a huge science fiction fan i turned my back to the old 1/72 scale WWI and WWII miniatures i did a long time ago and purchased some Warhammer 40Ks for a try , after some days getting in touch with the 40k universe and factions i decided i'm kind of a human guy so the Militarum Tempestus was an obvious choice but since I don't play and just like to paint I chose a mix of special units from different origins in the worlds of humans ; so here it goes , I have one unit of five Tempestus Scions -that I will display for your critics right there this unit being the first time i've painted something in this scale , from this universe and with this techniques I found in various posts on this forum- two units of skiitaris rangers and vanguards that will be in the next post , maybe as a work in progress since it takes me so damn long , a Steel Legion squad and two Vostroyans squads (firstborns and command) whom I will paint when I have time . Let me know if you have tips , tricks or just anthing to say about the painting since it's the only way I will become better at it , looking forward to critics from you seasonned guys !

Norton

PS the first pictures I took were a disgrace , hoping the new ones will do the trick , I don't know why the quality is so bad since when you click on them it's quite nice and sharp

Thanks , that was my very first time doing bases for my miniatures , it's only sand on the base itself painted in two colors one for the base and one for the sand but I find it quite effective . The GW texture paints did a really awesome job ! For the colors i wasn't really sure about the brown armors but after some days it's getting ok with me , i'll post my skiitaris whom I think are better regarding the color schemes but I only painted four at this time it's taking me ages . Maybe if someone wants to see them i'll upload a little preview of what it's becoming with the first finished four . In an case thanks for the review .

A log ? Sorry i'm really new to the forum thing you mean a sort of thread dedicated to work in progress or just posting something with the pictures I already got and update when I have something new to add ?

as it goes trying to figure out what i'm gonna do for my Scion colors.

Having some new paints if I had to start over I would keep the red pants that being a bright touch of color but I would trade the brown fort the armor with a slate gray , maybe i'll use that for my Vostroyan firstborns when they will be in my postbox eheh I'm thinking with forest green trousers maybe . Hope you'll find your color scheme and it will kick a**es !

I think he meant a blog we have a section in the forum for continuous work in projects : https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/56.page

Overall I think they look great, the chosen colors are top-notch and the bases are pretty cool and varied! The one thing I think that really required fixing is the white book (?) in both those troopers. When looking in more detail it really doesn't look that good.

Yeah you're absolutely right , i can't really seem to be able to get a good white shade whatever I do , this are small boxes with the wings brand on them , I painted them like that as little trauma packs but I need to do something about them and I will when the Skiitaris will be finished , I only have four of them to paint yet and two that I'm painting as we talk and I hope will be finished tonight . Thanks for the review , that's what helps me get better everyday !

Thanks , that's a really useful comeback since it happened to be so difficult for me to have clear whites on my miniatures , maybe it's because i lack paint thinner . I'll get myself to it but I really want to finish these desert rangers who take me so much damn time to paint and to show them to you guys because it's not nearly perfect i've got a very long way to go but i'm quite proud of them they look quite nice especially in group , can't wait to see them with a full recon squad .
