Hey guys, after discovering the glory that is the Khorgorath, I've made a new list with a couple in. The Skulltake battalion is cray!
I don't think it's anything special but seems like it could pack a punch. What do you guys think?

Leaders
> Bloodthirster of Insensate Rage
- General
- Command Trait: Slaughterborn
- Artefact: Crimson Crown
> Bloodstoker
> Bloodsecrator
> Slaughterpriest
> Slaughterpriest

Battleline
> 10x Blood Warriors
> 20x Bloodreavers
> 30x Bloodletters

Other
> 2x Khorgoraths
> 5x Skullreapers
> 5x Skullreapers

Battalions
> Gore Pilgrims
> Skulltake

Can you imagine the unit of two Khorgoraths with their 8 attacks each (9 when in range of the secrator) and the buffs from the prayers that the priests will be dishing out? The unit of 30 bloodletters will be pretty pokey and menacing; the Bloodthirster re-rolling all his to-hit rolls and getting extra attacks for him and his bloodletters on 6's...
I also have a couple of artefacts to give my leaders, not sure what to get yet. Any suggestions? Perhaps something for the priests to help keep them alive or maybe even giving them the Gorecleaver each?

As you dont have melee heroes apart from the thirster who already has an item I would do.
Brazen Rune on Bloodsecrator
Talisman of Burning Blood on the Blood Stoker

I would also look to run the Khorgoraths in 2 units as double the healing and double the battle shock debuff. I have a similar army just without the gore pilgrims and a maxed out skulltake and its pretty killy.

Hey thanks for the reply. Splitting the two Khorgoraths does sound better. I put them in a unit for the priest buffs to affect both of them, but you're right in the double healing and battleshock debuffs.

The artefacts you mentioned above seem pretty good, so I'll have a go with both and see which work for me.

Glad to hear your similar army does well. I've been having a lot of bad luck with my Khorne, winning only 2 games of over 20 played haha. So knowing this list might work out is nice to hear.

The battalion buffed Khorgoraths are amazing. 16 potential damage on a good hit profile with rend. I didnt run it with gore pilgrims I just maxed out the skulltake battalion and added a few extra heroes.

I liked having the chance for + dmg across all units (if bloodstoker is in range) then running a juggerlord as the general for the extra to wound buff.

My Khorne has been pretty successful but I mainly run gore pilgrims with Council of Blood which is a very different style. I am currently expanding out to several other builds as just playing one list I get bored pretty quickly.

I think probably point for point Skull Reapers are one of the best units in the book. Also they dont really need hero support so can help Khornes biggest weakness which is we tend to fall flat when all our heroes get sniped. I also love the way their rules make them good in battles of attrition as they and the enemy die their re rolls start to kick in. I run 20 of them in my skull take across the 3 units.

Could you give me a run down of your list? I'm interested to see the full thing. I haven't used Skullreapers yet but the more I've looked into them, the more I question why I've never used them haha

Below is what I run. I know there is some debate as to if you can run the tribes with additional warscrolls without also taking the 3-7 battalion option (which obviously isnt in my list). Until they FAQ it I say just run it or you can just run the additional scrolls outside the tribe (but lose the bonus).

Also if you wanted to be even more competitive you could take out three skull grinders and run 2 bloodsecrators (I would then run 2 of them with Brazen Runes for stopping combo spell armies). For me I like having a list without them in and no priests but objectively they probably arent as powerful. Although if you ever get blood blessing off its a game winner.

Skullfiend Tribe - 20
Lord of Khorne on Juggernaught - 140 General Violent Urgency, The Crimson Plate
Skullgrinder - 80 Mark of the Destroyer
Skullgrinder - 80 Talisman of Burning Blood
Skullgrinder - 80
Skullgrinder - 80
Scyla - 100
10 * Reaver - 70
Skulltake - 100
Bloodstoker - 80
10 * Skullreapers - 280
5 * Skullreapers - 140
5 * Skullreapers - 140
Khorgoraths - 100
Khorgoraths - 100
10 * Blood Warriors - 200
10 * Blood Warriors - 200
------------------------------ Total 1990

The list has a massive amount of high of high save wounds and MSU so good for blood tithe and objectives. Then the maxed out skulltake has very high damage output (deploy with the stoker in range to give the bonus to the blood warriors and monsters).

I am gathering Skulltake units at the moment. I love Khorgoraths, so I was thinking to get them to 8 attacks each and 3 damage each attack, max out the number of units, ending up with 6 Khorgoraths + 1 for the other unit of them.

Minimizing everything else (I like Blood Warriors over Reavers) brings that to 1500 points, leaving some room for a Bloodsecrator, Slaughterpriest, and Jugger Lord (perfect for upping the Skullreapers' wound rolls).

I do like Scyla for unlimited unbinding. He's probably much better in a pure Blades of Khorne list than before that tome came out.

How about this?

Leaders
- Lord on a Juggerjug
- Bloodthirster of Insensate Rate
- Bloodstoker
- Bloodsecrator
Battleline
- 10x Blood Warriors
- 10x Blood Warriors
- 10x Bloodletters
Other
- 1x Khorgorath
- 1x Khorgorath
- 10x Skullreapers
- 5x Skullreapers
- 5x Skullreapers
Battalions
- Skulltake

The thing I'm worried about is the Stoker being sniped really early on. Luckily those Skullreapers shouldn't be dying very quick so the Khorgoraths will be getting their attacks. Daemon Prince is pretty Killy, as well as the bloodthirster. The warriors could be awesome getting off double damage on 6's. The bloodletters feel a little random but they made it 2000pts on the dot.

A Jugger Lord might be better than the Daemon Prince. Lordy can give all 3 units of Skullreapers +1 to wound! He's pretty good in combat too, probably better than the Prince because of the better save and maybe-mortal wounds on the charge.

Good point, Malathrim. I'll swap the Prince for the Lord
