Hey all,

I was just musing about how ffg might (easily) give a boost to older imperial ships to make some of the ones you never see a bit more competitive.

First order retrofit:
Imperial only, title. Cost (-2)
You may take an additional title
Your ship receives one tech upgrade slot

(Perhaps instead of the global -2 cost, it could be reworded to -like the tie adv x1 title- make system upgrades cost -2 points)

What do you think, would this make interceptor/ bomber/ punisher/advanced a bit more playable?

Note: current f/o ships are distinct from old imperial ships based on symbol on the back, so it could/ should be worded so as to not apply to existing FO ships

Does that sound like fun to you?

10 point TIE fighters. No.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Well yes, but I play imperial...

Actually though, I mixed up my terms... I meant to say tjat the tech slot upgrade would cost -2 points

"What are you f"lying?"
"10 Tie FIghters, oh, with the X7 title, so they're 10 points, and they all have Pattern Analyzer which is free, so stress is irrelevant."

He was later found stabbed to death in the parking lot.

This is a terrible idea, not the idea of something to boost up older ships, but giving the Tie another title card for some ungodly reason, and I guess with no restrictions on that, the right answer becomes X-7. On top of that, getting free or mostly free tech upgrades? Just why would this seem like a good idea?

Shadowrun is the best game ever. It's the only thing I have ever played in which I have jumped out of a shot out van with a chainsaw to cut a flying drone in half before leveling a building with ANFO assisted by a troll, a dwarf, an elf, and a wizard.

you still would have to follow the restrictions of other titles....

It's easy to assume that people arguing an interpretation you disagree with are just looking for an advantage for themselves... But it's quite often not the case.

I had a brain fart, but still, even if this was a thing they added, why reduce the point cost of the ship? Let's take a Defender then, right. If you can take two titles, you're taking four points off of the defenders, and getting almost free tech upgrades, or 10 point Tie fighters? Why does this seem like a great idea?

Fine, I agree that the total point cost reduction might not be best:

What about tech slot with a "credit" to the cost of the upgrade?

Change it to

"if your ship does not have a tech upgrade slot, Your ship receives one tech upgrade slot and reduce the cost of any tech upgrade by 1"

That why you would need to take a tech upgrade in order to get any use out of it.

For Tech slots maybe something like the Smuggling Compartment, a cheap (or free) Mod that lets you equip a tech and a cheap Mod ?

Ok - one problem with universal titles is that they have to take that into account on any ship they release down the road. Any title should be ship specific. Otherwise you get those shenanigans with the Defender when your goal is the Advanced of original fighter.

I like the idea of titles fixing problems with ships, but instead of making base ships cheaper, they should make upgrades cheaper. Or if your idea is to fix a base ship, then make the point discount on low level pilots so that aces aren't affected.

For instance - TIE interceptors - the last thing we need is to make Fel cheaper. The base interceptor though is priced too high at 18 points - maybe a title that reduces the base cost on Interceptors at PS 3 or less by one or two points and reduces the cost of modifications by 1.

I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally

Could you imagine Fel with the title in the OP? Primed Thrusters, making him (almost) immune to stress control.
