so with all the leaks from 8th edition, I'm currently building a demi-battle company, and I find I'm doing some stuff that would have been crazy bizzare a few months ago.

such as:
-putting heavy boltguns in my tatical squads
- Building a unit of assault marines with 5 chain swords, 3 plasma pistols and a combat sheild.

has anyone else got any stories of "... this actually works now" ?

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

Putting heavy bolters and stubbers on my manticores. With no more ordnance restrictions, they are just extra shots for cheap.

Putting bloody storm bolters on hellhounds! Stubbers are heavy, so bad for moving units. Rapid fire 2 though, much better.

Lascannon and bolter battlecannon russes. Such a horrible mix of weapons, but with split fire is now fine.

I am also seriously considering fielding large amounts of bubble chucka's. Those rules are just too weird to pass by.

Dakka does have White Knights and is also rather infamous for it's Black Knights. A new edition brings out the passionate and not all of them are good at expressing themselves in written form. There have been plenty of hysterical responses from both sides so far. So we descend into pointless bickering with neither side listening to each other. So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

1500 point pure foot Deathwing (i.e. using a bit of teleport assault). I haven't played a list like this in aeons.

20 models, over 60 wounds and it contains actual tactical terminators that will start on the ground alongside dreadnoughts.

It looks like something I would have fielded back in 2nd Edition and I love it.

Now, hopefully it will actually be good!

Just need to finish re-arming (literally) some of my DW command squad units to support the DW Knight teleport charge. Also need to pick up or make a Belial with a sword and storm bolter, that profile got crazy good.

40K models themselves.

I wasn't exactly against Games Workshop nor Warhammer 40K (nor was a much of a fan either) up until this year. The game sounded terrible, the price of the models were too expensive, and the company itself seemed like mustache-twirling villain. If you had asked me if I would ever play a GW miniatures game back in October. I probably would have said, "I could play a few games of Space Hulk if the other player owned it and bothered putting some paint on the minis." Other than that, I would say no.

Now, I have enough of collection to sort of field for about an 1850 point game if I use some of my Fallen Dark Angels as count as Chaos Space Marines or "Forge the Narrative" allies.

I even would like to build a full on Fallen Dark Angel army some day, but the crazy GW prices stop me cold. Much of what I have was on sale/old box sets (Dark Vengeance, Crimson Slaughter expansion, some fairly old Chaos box set I don't remember the name of). I just can't see moving creating Fallen army based on the current prices. Heck, I want to pick up the Dark Angel 10 Marines plus a Rhino set, but still consider it a little more than I want to pay.

Why, because they're 9 pts be HW team in a AM list? I had to double check that number the first time read through the list. 81 pts for 9d6 barrage. Sweet.

There's a detachment with 0-6 Troops and 2-6 FA, so you can still run pure bike lists. No Scouts necessary.
