However, I'm wondering how to set up the pair of dreadnoughts.

Is a Keres Mortis dread and a double DCCW dread better than two Kheres/Single DCCW dreadnoughts?

I think the Kheres/Fist dreadnoughts are more versatile.
Is the benefit of versatility worth losing the specialisation of the seperate classes?

I find mortis-contemptor dreadnoughts much more irritating because they regularly shoot down my avenger strike fighter before it gets to do anything.

I think one dual Kheres is good, but would not outfit the other one with 2 DCCWs, run the melta + DCCW. That will give you more options and flexibility
