I'm curious if anyone else on Dakka is playing this. I now have my first smart phone because I'm old fashioned, and this is the first game I've played on it and I've been rather enjoying myself. My only real complaint is I really wish there was a mulligan rule for when your opening hand contains no playable monsters.

Me and one of my lads are playing this.
its good fun and we are trying to outdo each other with cards we get from packs. Hit a brick wall with pvp play, Silver 2 is best I can manage and its a slog to level up from rank 15 or so.

Same for me. I'm stuck in silver four. I've looked through some of the meta decks but I either don't have or can't obtain sufficient copies of some of the core cards. The only good deck I can put together for ranked is a Rex Raptor Dinosaur deck, which suits my style but I need to grind some Two Headed King Rexs and some support cards to bring it together.
I have been able to get a lot of gems just by leveling my characters, but eventually that'll run out XD
Mostly though I like it for knocking out a few rounds during my breaks or while I'm just waiting around in a room or something XD Let my cat go out onto the porch to sun bathe today and sat with her beating on poor Weevil

Exactly what I do. Play a few rounds and grind a level or gems. between jobs and when I am pottering around. There are plenty of gems given away. Its Yugis Birthday today so got 320 free gems.

Was playing it around launch but stopped at about the first set release in it after the main blue eyes one since it was basically just a pile of uninteresting and very clunky seeming cards. It felt like in pvp there was pretty much just one deck list so interest in it vanished quickly sadly.

I've definitely seen a lot of Blue Eyes decks. Fortunately for me its hard to get a Blue Eyes out when I've been overpowering the field XD
There's like, 20 meta decks listed on the games website, but I've only come across two of them so far (Blue Eyes and Relinquished), and a few people with really bad attempts at another. The hardest deck I've fought was a Weevil Stall deck that threw down multiple Cocoons of Evolution, and I just couldn't get around them before he killed me with effects.

Well to be fair, "lots of blue-eyes decks" also appears to be part of the meta with actual cards, too.

Oh I'm not complaining XD
I like fighting Blue Eyes decks. One order to charge and the entire thing is neutered and I win! I hate stall/burn as much as I do in magic though. A pox upon them I say!

I don't know what that is XD If you tell me what cards it uses I can tell you if those cards are in game.
I do know of two control decks (clown control and statue control) that are supposed to be good, but I haven't faced either yet and it doesn't look like anyone using them made it to King of Games in the current Championship (I myself managed to claw my way to Platinum 1 by sheer luck).

Good old clown control, that is an oldie.
Tomato control just uses Mystic Tomato and small dark monsters like Sangan and Giant Germ (in the early days) to keep field presence and maintain hand size at the same time.

Mystic Tomato isn't listed in the card catalog (but if it was a card considered OP, they may have renamed it and adjusted its rules as they've done with several others like Monster Reborn and Mirror Force). There are a lot of small dark monsters and Giant Germ is in catalog but I have no idea where it comes from. It's not in any of the packs. It may be something exclusive to some of the NPC duelists.
If you're interested in competitive play, so far Duel Links seems to have a healthy meta. You can see a list of decks that have made it to top rankings in the current World Championship here.

So funny story XD Mystic Tomato just appeared in the game as part of the Mokuba Kaiba event. Mokuba has three in his Lv. 30 deck (but is not obtainable by players right now).
