So I am just getting back into wargaming again, I missed you all! But onto the main bit of this thread. I am looking to convert some plague marines into plaguebearer, is this a acceptable thing to do in age of sigmar and how strict are the wysiwyg rules?

This really comes down to the attitudes of those you are playing,
Myself and the people I play with would applaud your creativity.

However a guy I played 40k against once, tried to argue that the GW promo photos of one of a models had the sword held up He-Man style but my gluing it on pointing forward leading the charge was modeling for advantage and he should be able to target him through a wall despite not being able to see any of the model. ( as I said I played against him once )

So I guess what I'm saying is ... you should totaly do it and use them as a sort of litmus test of people you probably don't want to play against anyway

i'd be ok with it so long as the weapons looked close enough! luckily plaguebearers aren't that complicated.

If you plan on using the newer plague marines from the new 8th ed starter set, I'd say they look a lot closer to Blight Kings rather than plague bearers. The pox walkers might look better as plague bearers.

If you want to convert and sort of match the aesthetic of AoS, just remove anything that looks like a 'modern' or 'futuristic' weapon, and stick a tentacle/sword/claw in it's place.

I think they're wonderful models and what you want to do would be awesome.

As a sidenote, swapping shoulder pads with chaos knights/blightkings along with the weapon/arm swaps above would make them suitable to use as chosen or blightkings.

As long as it's easy to identify which model is which (this guy is the plagueridden, this is the icon bearer, this is the piper), most people wouldn't have an issue. If they do, they probably aren't the type of people you want to be playing regularly anyway.

Ya I am basically using a Mixture of blightkings, Plague Marine (Newest Edition) and the plaguebearer from the deamons of nurgle box collection to build the unit. I love the look of the newer plague marine and I thought, why the hell not.

If you came to my store I would play you and marvel at how awesome your plaguebearers are. As long as they look relativlely fantasy and not real sci-fi let it rock. I would look to using the poxwalkers as plaguebearers first and incorporate the marines as blight kings . Have fun with it, its nurgle so make it nurgley!!!
