Hey all,
Brought my Quickdraw/ Deathfire list to the weekly store tournament tonight... did okay, 2-1 with a bad mov, didn't place, but not bad considering I've played like 3 games (mostly against newbies) since new year's.

First round was vs a rebel list. Rex , Jess Pava (swarm leader), roark in the hawk with
tlt and Biggs (with damage limit droid).
First game, only loss. I killed rex and had Biggs at 1 health (and the hawk was hurting) but only my bomber survived.
This game was decided by by opponent having very good situational red dice. I dropped both cluster mines and my opponent hit every token. Of 12 dice he took 1 damage. I flew pretty well, but I think I wasted a couple of chances to switch Deathfire's
TL mid game.
In the first pass he ps12'ed rex to suppress Quickdraw, Qiuck and Vessery pushed through some fair damage on Biggs and the bomber protons Rex (3 hits and a crit, 2 evade, evade token spent for a swarm leader nuke of Quickdraw - not dead, but no shields at best), hit, crit > major explosions, hit).
Quickdraw died shortly after and from not switching
tls i took some Vessery shots w/o
tls so Vessery didn't kill Biggs (opponent had good green dice too) and eventually died to the
TLT (I think). Last turn the bomber had a proton shot at full health jess (no chance, realistically for a kill) or a primary shot (no mods) on Biggs... there went the mov
Second round. Opponent had "scorpion" Vessery (d, tractor, vi) omega leader (+stealth device) and inquisitor. Victory with plenty of shields on Quickdraw at the end vs Vessery. I got the kill. 100-62
This was another game when the cluster mines were underwhelming. I was very glad i brought debris or I'd have lost many more shots from enemy Vessery tractor beams onto obstacles. My greens were bad this game.
This game was probably decided in the round of maneuvering after the first pass (when I knocked a shield off the inquisitor with Quickdraw and proton torps). Deathfire blocked both omega and inquisitor. So my Vessery got a
TL focus shot on inquisitor with no tokens (dead, thanks to a direct hit). I got another totally underwhelming bomb round before the bomber got
ps killed.
I probably should have taken initiative in a shot v. Shot with Vessery, 'cause my opponent did get a few tractor beams on me (one on a rock) but when a game comes down to Vessery D vs Quickdraw, Quickdraw wins (it was almost a repeat of a game I had at the side event of Connecticut regional where I lost with my Vessery D).
Final game. Against a upsilon shuttle with Hux and systems officer, delta x7 and Vessery x7. I got greedy at the end and lost Quickdraw in the last round of shooting. His delta survived vs my Vessery.
I got some early shots vs a token down delta, then shifted fire to the shuttle. Then in a later round I had shots at a tokenless Vessery. My bomber took 2 crits in a single round. Quickdraw took one for the extra shot, but the other crit was damaged sensor array. No bombs (aaargh!)
I think I killed the shuttle by spending a focus on Quickdraw (who was shields down) when Vessery (
tl,& focus) could and did do the kill. I rolled 3 focus on Quickdraw for defense and died (mov!).
I think I will give deathfire another week of trial, but I'm not sure if he's the right bomber. A deadeye gamma vet seems like he's going to be able to put more damage down...
Automatically Appended Next Post: So I'm not convinced that Deathfire is the right bomber in this situation. But, I think I'm going to give him/her/it (and the cluster mines) another week.
Do y'all think that this is an improvement?
