Just getting into AoS and I wanted to know which book has the most info for the Mortal Realms. I'm trying to make a story for my army and make some special rules for my group to play in these awesome locations.

I would appreciate some guidance. Many thanks!

Well my time is short right now but I'm not sure one particular book will give you the most info, it's rather spread out.(Though "All-gates" does cover multiple realms)

Fortunately Mongoosematt did many reviews of the Battletomes that you can look through here;

And WellofEternity has an amazing collection of AoS artwork from the battletomes that can give you a good picture.

I will happily get into actual details later.

What army are you making and what rules did you have in mind? That'd make things easier to discuss.

If you look up "Time of War" in the app, those are sets of rules for having a battle in specific areas of the realms.

@Baron Klatz
Thanks, man. I read a couple of these reviews this morning. Very handy stuff indeed. So far, All Gates looks like the best book for what I am looking for as it is huge, packed with fluff, and has tons of unique battle plans.

As far what I am playing - I am building a Chaos Army, but I'm trying to stay focused on a theme (so much to choose from in this allegiance). The story line of my force has gone through several renditions in a few short weeks because of my lack of knowledge/understanding of the setting, but I have finally begun to settle on a theme. My army will be led by a Chaos Sorcerer who is uniting diverse groups to fight for him, each with it's own theme and story. I have ordered a warpfire dragon and skin wolves from FW (love werewolves), so they're going to be part of my force along with undivided Chaos Warriors and Knights. From there I am adding a tribe of barbarian warriors (Marauders led by a Darkoath Chieftain) and maybe something I can summon.

For Realm-specific rules? Well...I haven't given this deep thought yet. Usually reading the fluff inspires something in me, but I have had some trouble finding a whole lot out there.

@NinthMusketeer
Are you referring to "Seasons of War" in the app? I can't seem to find "Time of War". I appreciate the help, man!

The times of war are in the warscroll section, go there, then to "my battle" and there should be a tab up top that says "times of war".

that's where i find them at least.

realism is a lie

I would say the first campaign book is good for a broad overview, but if you have a decent grasp on that already then Balance of Power onward is good. Quest for Ghal Maraz can be skipped.

Each of the books has snippets related to each realm more than others. For example, Fyreslayers will have more info on Aqshy than most, but only if it has to deal with them.... But you can find a summary of each realm in books like the general's handbook, the Realmgate Wars books, or any novel. The new Skirmish book does give a bit of lore on the Realm of Death with the Shadespire campaign, also it's pretty cheap so it won't hurt to check it out.
