I'm looking for somewhere to play Warhammer 40k around Poughkeepsie NY or anywhere in the surrounding area. I recently moved up here from Florida where we had a great group at the FLGS and I'd really like to find a place like that close by. I've done some searching and all I could turn up was fairly far away so I wanted post here to see if anyone knows of a decently local place where people get together to play or have tournaments.

i live in Poughkeepsie. We have a club in Harrison NY as well. Battle for Salvation.

I host games at the house. Live in Lagrange

Right now there is no good FLGS in the area that hosts 40K. The best North of us is Kirwans. in Catskill. plus they host tournaments. about 50 min away. South is our club in Harrison NY about 50 min south. We game on Monday nights. check us out on facebook. We also host RTTs every few months and the BFS GT in October. Feel free to PM me.

I've been playing with BFS in Harrison for the most part. Solid group and a lot of fun. I also can host at the house and live in Highland Falls.

Welcome to the Empire State. I know there is 40k all up and down the Hudson.

While a bit of a haul, there is some action around Albany. My FLGS right now is Flipside Games in East Greenbush.

Is the Dragon’s Den still open? It’s a name I recall hearing tossed around in reference to downstate gaming.

Unfortunately dragon's den had to close down recently. They're saying that they plan on re-opening but not sure when that's going to happen. Also I'm not sure they do any 40k there. As far as I know it was mostly D&D and magic that they hosted

Also, Nevelon, PanzerLeader, zedsdead thanks for the responses! It's great to hear that despite the fact that it's hard to find places to play up here there's still a community! I was busy the last few weeks but might make the trip down to Harrison on Monday for a game or 2 of 8th. Hope to see you guys there!

I live in Poughkeepsie and with 8th edition I have finally decided to start playing 40k again. Looking to find a group and/or players for meet up games. Too bad about dragons den, it maybe time for me to start building tables.

actually its a great time for gaming in the Poughkeepsie area. Champion games in Red Oaks Mill has been gaining momentum on 40K gaming.
As well as Kirwans games in Catskills is opening a second location at the Mall on route 9 in october.

Oh how nice it is to see 40k players in Poughkeepsie. I work in the area. Any other flgs besides Dragons Den?

To piggy-back on Ed's comments, Flipside Gaming in Albany is a hike, but are also really good folks who similarly run great events.

Its also worth noting that Kirwin's (the excellent shop in Catskill) is opening a new super-store in the Poughkeepsie Galleria, so locally 40k should see a surge in popularity!

That Kirwins store looked very interesting. A super version of that in The Poughkeepsie Galleria? Looks like Dragons Den is in for some serious competition. Our cup will runeth over.
