Two months ago I would never have thought I would end up here.
I have friends who I knew were into
40k for years. It's something I thought I would never be into. Then I went to a games night at the house of one of said friends on Easter Saturday. I was just hoping that someone would run an
RPG at some point that night, that's what I really wanted to get into.
When I arrived some people were painting, some assembling, and two were running through the dying stages of a Shadow War: Armageddon game. We played a card game, Ascension, which I had brought over. Then a game of Pandemic.
Having finished our game of Pandemic, we wandered inside and finally, my wish came true. One of the attendees was just setting the scene for a session of the Only War
RPG. It was my first experience of tabletop rpgaming and it was everything I wanted. The
GM was fantastic and the experience was so vivid it stuck with me and I had to learn more about the
40k universe.
Two days later and we went to visit another friend I knew was into
40k but hadn't been at the game night. I asked if he had any books I could borrow and he gave me Blood Reaver and Void Stalker (he didn't have the first in the series). That was probably the final nail in the coffin. I devoured these books, then I preordered the Dark Imperium box on Saturday and now I'm just soaking up all the info I can awaiting the release day.
I am very excited

about every aspect of of
40k, the lore, the rules, the game, but I am finding that I am maybe even more interested in modelling and painting than anything else. I just can't wait to get started, and it's all I think about. The new Death Guard miniatures in the box look amazing, and I want mine to look just as good as the ones in the promo photos, just a darker scheme.
I've read most of what is worth reading on the Warhammer community pages, I've joined and liked and followed heaps of pages on Facebook, and now I am here to see what kinds of things concern and interest players and collectors.
Cheers,
JZ
