Got my C-ROC a day early and was annoyed to find that it has a couple of issues with it. Firstly the top engine has a massive crack along its length (easily fixed but annoying and will need paint) more irritating is the base plate does not have the blue line dividing the halves printed on it. I am really unsure of what to do about this last time I had an issue (missing plastic bit for a dial) I was told I had to go through our local distributer for resolution and they are, quite frankly, absolutely fething useless. Anyone have any thoughts? Should I just fix it the best I can? Not impressed that I spend over a $100 and got defective stuff...

Keep your receipt, take a photo of it, can contact FFG directly.

Seems to be a lot of people have noticed the issue with the blue line.

Got a reply from FFG and it is not what I was expecting;
Apparently the lack of dividing line was deliberate (although the rules reference mentions it) and the C-ROCs fore and aft sections are determined by the firing arc.

Also they want me to send the model back for a replacement, $65 shipping. I don't think so.

AKA "oh god shipping out replacements for our mistake is going to cost us a ton of money, let's change the rules and pretend it was meant to be this way". If anyone actually played epic I'd consider this to be a massive problem, but as-is I can't honestly care.

This is unfortunate, but standard policy. To (presumably) stop people from getting free expensive models FFG doesn't replace epic ships without sending the original one back.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Yeah its a bit of a joke but I do understand why they have done it and it amuses me that they have now pretended it was deliberate all along. Just a shame that they forgot they already printed the line on the Gozanti.
Oh and if you haven't gathered by now I do play epic, I know its not your thing mate but there are a few of us who do and don't just spend lots of money to fix problems with the death match format. In fact I even understand that there is such a thing as epic tournaments.

I can also understand that shipping back is policy but to not even have the option to send it back to the NZ/OZ distributer seems a little harsh as shipping to the US is insanely expensive for any where else in the world. Apparently this is something to do with the Asmodee (sp?) takeover?

Still, got my Syck fixes! fear them...

We've actually got a local tournament this month due to the C-ROC coming out.

We even have an Epic league going on for the past two years in our city. All the FLGS are clearing space for it.

Couldn't they have just issued a credit to the store and have them receive your broken model instead? They could have sent you a pre-filled waybill with your information that you can then drop off at post offices or courrier stores anywhere? 2017? Really?

How does NZ consumer protection law operate? In the UK, I only need to deal with the retailer - I can take a damaged ship back to the place I bought it for a refund, exchange or replacement, and then it's their problem to deal with the supplier. Obviously that's only useful if the shop has another C-Roc in stock that's not also damaged.

I usually check new purchases right there instore, just in case.

Can you not do that? return it to the shop for a replacement?

It's a three day trek on sheep-back.

NZ consumer law is pretty much the same as it is for the UK, a little more stringent if anything. The issue is however that the purchase was made through a company that is based in OZ and the only recourse under law then is to take them to a disputes tribunal (which incidentally costs $45) and is also why I didn't get to check the model out first as the damage was quite apparent even in the blister. I didn't buy local because its more expensive and takes longer, both in time to get the stock and in shipping times. It is quite often quicker to get things from the UK than it is to send them across the country.

Edited to say that the regional distributor is both OZ and NZ and has a presence here (based in Christchurch on the South Island) but they say to go through FFG...

Mate, that is hilarious ... well done.

Just for you here are NZs last agricultural stats;
There are in excess of 6,600,000 dairy cattle.
3,650,000 beef cattle.
835,000 farmed deer.
Some 14,000,000 chickens.
Around 220,000 Bee hives.
24,200,000 sheep.
But most importantly of all the combined NZ agricultural sector used a grand total of 1,981,600 tonnes of manure last year.

Incidentally are the epic tournaments that you people are involved in insisting on a minimum number of epic ships? There is talk around here that it is going to be mandatory to bring one to a game, which I reckon is a pretty good idea.

Well, until before the C-ROC was released, that requirement was waved for S&V players, but yes, Leagues and Tourneys here require the use of an Epic ship to participate. It's the inefficiency tax, if you will.

You farm deer? That is awesome!
