I managed to get my second game of 8th Edition in, a smaller sized battle against Tyranids. In the future I'll be doing video reports as well as written but the smaller size lends itself better to just a written report.

You can check out the game here.

Cool batrep! I always enjoy the text and pic reports. Red Orks look great!

Not a big fan of ork's skin (maybe i am too purist i don't know)

Thx for the batrep. And yep, i'm also a bit disappointed with power klaws. However, nobz do look nice for mechanised lists. Transports have gone way up in cost and you need more elite stuff inside rather than just a bunch of naked boyz.

I agree, Nobz are the way to go for Speed Freakz. I just don't think Ork Transports are particularly good, hopefully someone can prove me wrong. :]

I think Orks will be pretty good....but they will need to do something to get around faster. Definitely not on the top end of the speed spectrum, and I think armies are going to figure out pretty fast that hordes of dudes are actually really good in this edition....so you gotta get there quick I feel.

The weird thing is it feels like foot Orks get there just as fast as Speed Freaks. Obviously a Trukk is faster but with Advancing + Charging + Rerolls I've been consistently in combat on Turn 2 against gunlines. Now obviously that exposes me to shooting but I have more guys at the same time. The extra bit from vehicles can net you a bit more action on a flank but it depends.

Orks biggest weakness just seems like armor, I can't find any good solutions. They can kill T7 Tanks pretty well if they get there with a mob but T8 is really, really hard.

Yeah, tanks can prove problematic to deal with. I've got a batrep still on 1-st page where i faced 6 basilisks in a 1k pt game. And the thing i learned from there is that you should either focus tanks down with a lot of stuff or just tie them up. Tying up can work pretty well vs shooty tanks. But i'm not sure what you can do vs something like a landraider full of choppy units. They're almost guaranteed to charge you. Probably, your best bet is to surround transports so that the enemy can't disembark to chop you down. So, fast stuff is required. Stormboyz, your own vehicles, maybe bikers - but i don't believe in ork bikers in 8-th. Maybe koptas or all kinds of buggies.
