Specifically the presence of a Str/Tou chart to wound things and the rule that chargers go first.

I have played three games of 8th with my Dark Eldar and I was really struck by how streamlined and rational the system felt.

Firstly, having a generous and scalable wound chart means that you have a lot of scalability in the system whilst still allowing everything to hurt everything. AoS system is a little oversimplified. Why should it be as easy to wound Alarielle as it is a Dryad? Having a scalable system whereby something like A GODDESS is tougher to hurt than a common foot soldier makes a lot of sense to me.

Chargers go first is great. One of the main issues I have with Sigmar is that people tend to be very gamey with trying to get the most advantageous turn order for themselves. In practice this means a lot of armies will stand off rather than charge. In fact making a mass charge with multiple units is often disadvantageous because priority order means your charging units are as vulnerable as engaged units. But having chargers always go first is a huge incentive to make sure that you get the charge and be the first to engage. This encourages the sort of aggressive gameplay that makes the game enjoyable. Once units are engaged, well, there nothing you can really do about it.

Honestly I think so. I think they learned a lot from AOS that they applied to 40k, but I'm not sure if they want to backport it, a pervading rumor was that AOS will be a more simplistic game, 40k would be similar but more complex, and 30k would be the "advanced" rules, and that seems to be true now with how AOS, 40k and 30k (staying with 7th edition) rules are.
