I like the sounds of Breach Specialist and Selflessness, and that dial is much better than I thought it would be , no K turn but fill 2s 3s and a red 5, which is cool, but I am not sold on the ship honestly, though I know two guys locally who are buying 4 a piece to fly a swarm of them, I don't get it. Might work out better in practice.

I am surprised by the dial as I was expecting something like a Lambda. Cant say as I like this expansion though and am already sick to death of Biggs, not sure if we need more (though I play Scum...)

It would be good in a joust, but will be eaten alive by aces.

Yeah, it is nice to have the 180 firing arc, but the thing can't turn around, it's going to be like taking on a hounds tooth, it'll get ripped apart by any ship that can get behind it, because it can't turn around without taking a couple of rounds to do hard 3s

It's not bad, I'm not crazy about it's aesthetics but cei le vie? (I probably just made a French speaker slam their head into their keyboard.)
Breach Specialist might be good on a non-Kyle Katarn/Recon Specialist HWK.
Might not be too bad either if slipped into a Y-Wing circus.

Might want to read again, you need to spend a reinforce token that the HWK will never have. The only non-epic ship that breach specialist works on is the gunship.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Anyway, first impressions:
Generic: seems pretty efficient, but confirmed to be boring as hell. Stat line looks good, 180* arc is good, and that automatic evade on every attack is great defense if you're willing to spend all your actions there. The downside is that it's never going to be anything but an efficient jousting ship. It can't win a maneuvering fight, it can't hit all that hard, and it generally can't do anything but dial up a 2/3-turn every turn and roll some dice. Effective, maybe, but boring as hell.
Lowhhrick: trash. This is functionally equivalent to a Kyle + Jan HWK or anything with squad leader, passing an evade token to another ship at the cost of your own action. Except now, instead of a range-3 bubble like Kyle/Jan, you're limited to range 1 and can't stockpile Moldy Crow tokens. And how often do we see Kyle handing out evade tokens in a serious list? Never. Moving on.
Wullffwarro: underwhelming at best. Yes, a 4-die attack on a 180* arc is good. The problem is that you have to lose half your HP to get it, and if this is your list's highest priority target then you've really failed in list building. What is most likely to happen is that your opponent will ignore the gunship's decent-but-not-great attack in favor of killing something more threatening, unless they can catch the gunship in a position where they finish it off immediately. You aren't going to take damage until the gunship is your last remaining ship, at which point you're probably getting outmaneuvered and a 4-dice gun on a 4-5 HP ship isn't going to be enough. And if you try to get cute with self-damage tricks you risk your opponent saying "ok, free kill" and putting the last 4-5 damage on the gunship before you can really use the big gun.
Selflessness: trash. You make a ship into a one-shot Biggs that can't draw crits/stress control/etc, but what's the point when you can take the real Biggs instead? I just don't see any of the possible ways to use this being more effective than Biggs, and you certainly aren't going to want to spend 50+ points of your list on meatshields.
Breach Specialist: awesome in epic, good in normal games. Crits are death to epic ships, now you don't have to suffer them, ever. Or at least you won't if you're masochistic enough to play epic in the first place. And even on a gunship this works out pretty well. Let's say you flip down a direct hit (or something equally nasty), that's 1 HP immediately saved, equivalent to keeping the reinforce token to spend on a single next attack. If it's the last attack of the turn and there's no next attack then you just got 1 HP for a single point. It's not 100% guaranteed, but you're pretty likely to get at least 1 point of value out of this. The massive, massive problem is that one of the gunship's few options for buffing its attack dice (assuming you reinforce every turn) is a double-crew upgrade, so taking the breach specialist means going without that buff.

Crazy_Carnifex wrote:The real winner is Selflessness. It's a once-per game, no crits Biggs, that can't be bypassed with ordinance. For 1 point. How often does Biggs soak more than one or two rounds, anyways? Sure, your opponent only has to shoot you once, but you choose when that is, and this means that if they ignore you at all they will end up splitting fire. They can also waste shots shooting at a tokened up ace, only for you to pull damage once they've stripped your tokens.
The problem is that there isn't a good option for carrying selflessness. Look at the rebel ships with EPTs:
Sabine is the cheapest option, and selflessness essentially says "kill this ship to draw a single attack from someone else" when you're talking about a 3 HP ship. That's a lot of points to pay to divert a single attack when Biggs can divert several before dying.
Green squadron pilots are even more expensive and now you're committing to a ship that is trash except for being a partial Biggs. Just take Biggs.
The gunships are more expensive than Biggs, and draw fewer attacks.
Named pilots with EPT slots tend to be the kind of expensive ships that you want to be protecting with your meatshields, and want to spend their EPT slots on improving their own power.
So who do you put selflessness on? Nobody works, so it's a trash card.

Not legal. R2- D6 requires PS 3+, so you'd have to buy a gray squadron y-wing. So now you're paying 22 points for one-shot Biggs, even more if you want a turret on that y-wing to make it at least slightly useful once the EPT is gone.

You're missing out on the Z-95 Aces, who bring some other support abilities to the field. Or running Selflessness alongside Biggs, in order to pull a weak shot off of Biggs, forcing your opponent to spend more effort killing Biggs. I think that you are being a little quick to discount a very powerful effect, just because you don't see an ideal carrier.

No, I considered them and rejected them. They suffer from the same problem as Sabine: poor HP. You're paying ~20 points for a 4 HP ship, and then suiciding it to draw one attack away. That's much worse performance than Biggs as a pure meatshield, and you're not getting much out of the support abilities if you sacrifice them in the opening pass to save someone more important. What you really want for selflessness is a ship with enough HP to soak up the attack and still be a relevant threat, but rebels don't have anything like that.
Or running Selflessness alongside Biggs, in order to pull a weak shot off of Biggs, forcing your opponent to spend more effort killing Biggs.
Again, running it alongside Biggs on what ship? You aren't going to spend an ace's EPT slot on a one-shot suicide EPT, and that ace is what Biggs is supposed to be protecting. So you're going to bring a second meatshield, at which point you've defeated the entire purpose of taking Biggs: efficient damage prevention for a key threat. You can't afford to spend ~50 points of your list on meatshields.
I think that you are being a little quick to discount a very powerful effect, just because you don't see an ideal carrier.
Alternatively, there's a reason why it's a one-point EPT, something that traditionally has very low power.

I wasn't thrilled with the Wookie ship from the start and this just confirms I can give it a pass.
It's a two ship wave though - Aggressor and whatever that Scum ship is. Granted we haven't seen the preview for the Scum bomber, but it seems like a reasonably tough ship with a turret and bombs, that can't be bad.

But at least having a single copy of intensity will be useful. I just don't see anything to draw me to this vessel.
I was trying to think of other Rebel ships which could use Wookie Commandoes, and aside from a basic YT-1300, of whichever flavour floats your boat, most of the pilots benefit more from other crews' synergies.
A pass for me. I want to see that Scurgg, though...
